This Boa Vista apartment has absolutely fantastic views, as can be seen in the photos. It is in a superb location with an amazing freshwater swimming pool with a pool bar/restaurant that serves food from breakfast to dinner. (Closed Mondays. There are a couple of other bars that do food too within 2 to 4 minutes walk, both with free wifi. It is a nonsmoking apartment aimed at couples. (smoking on balcony only) No animals are allowed in the apartment. There is nothing better than sitting on the west facing balcony watching the sea and the sunset!. It is not overlooked by people using the pool or bar. I sometimes go on my own and feel safe, but would get taxis in the evening. It is not overlooked by people using the pool or bar. I sometimes go on my own and feel safe, but would get taxis in the evening. There is a local little shop for most necessities in the next block, along with a little cafe/bar and free wifi. It is only 10 minutes or so walk to Sal Rei and bakers, butchers, market, supermarkets and fish market. There are also many very good restaurants. These can be found on Trip Advisor. The bar/restaurant at Vila Cabral 2 is called Elcibar and is run by a Belgian couple and the food there is excellent. They have free wi fi too. If you walk into town for a meal, a taxi back is 3 to 4 euros. The apartment has just about everything you would need on holiday. It is my holiday home and has everything I need anyway! There is even an iron!!! (No ironing board....but as of yet I haven't used the iron!) The balcony has a bistro table and two chairs. The bedroom has plenty of space and has another table and two chairs, as well as the bed and bedside cabinets and a big wardrobe for clothes. Boa Vista is a relaxing holiday.....unless you want to go swimming, scuba diving, quad biking, snorkelling etc.(Check insurance covers you if intending to do an activity...some activities include insurance I think, but check) I enjoy walking through the town and on up the beach to the beach bars for lunch and then wander back. (Or get a taxi if I feel lazy.....they are quite cheap) There are also lots of tours to visit various parts of the island. Although quite barren the beaches are amazing and the colours in the landscapes and plants are beautiful. Turtles and whales when in season are also great to see. There is now a little beach bar that does good food just a few minutes up the beach. The apartment kitchen is well fitted with 4 gas ring hob, extractor hood, oven and grill, toaster, kettle, and crockery and cutlery etc. There are games....cards, scrabble, dominoes, a jig saw and a TV/DVD as well as a radio/i pod dock. So take your own music and videos ( there is a selection of DVD's in English)! TV is in Portuguese. Transfer from the airport can be arranged, but it's very easy and cheaper to get a taxi.(10 euros) Initial shopping can be arranged for you at a cost, but I find it is easiest to take tea, coffee, sugar, etc in bags, or oil for cooking in a little make up bottle! Milk, bread etc can be bought very locally in the next block, or about 10 minute walk to main shops in town. Most things can be bought out there. This is a non smoking property, but you may smoke on the balcony. Water and electricity on the island are in short supply and expensive. They will be metered and charged in euros by my manager on check out. Usually 20 to 40 euros, depending on how long you stay in the shower!!! This seems the fairest way of dealing with it otherwise I need to make sure I cover it in my weekly charge, and some people will use less than others. (I think people must be very careful with water as usually nearer 20 euros per week) Free Wi Fi is available at Elcibar, when it is open. Last time I went out I bought a mobile WiFi on Amazon before I went and just got a local data card to use out there, if you need to make sure you have mobile all the time. There is a fly screen on the bedroom window and mosquito net for the bed if you want to use it. Mosquitos are usually only around if it has rained. Tourist tax now applies to people in self catering apartments. This is 2 euros per person per night and will be payable in euros cash to my managers on arrival.(upto a maximum of 20 euros pp.)There is a 31 euro airport tax and you can stay for 90 days without a visa, so I have been told. Check in and check out times will be notified on booking, but generally they are quite flexible if no other booking on the day. You can discuss this with my managers. Lift....there is a lift but I cannot guarantee it is always working, so if you are unable to use the stairs please look for a ground floor apartment. Thanks. Feel free to ask any questions. I will respond as soon as I can. More

I will send you details on how to get to the apartment (very easy by taxi from the airport.) where my managers will meet you by the bar. They will take you to the apartment and explain everything. They are English and live at Vila Cabral,(next door to Vila Cabral 2) They are very friendly and very helpful. They will give you a local mobile phone to use for taxis (already programmed in), their contact number, emergency numbers, and it is very useful for booking restaurants. I will send you an information pack when you book, and my managers also leave their one in the apartment. It is very useful and up to date. I only go out there a couple of times a year so things change....new restaurants opening up all the time, and a few closing!

We arrived back from Boa Vista late last night, after spending two lovely relaxing weeks in the apartment. On arrival at the airport, we took one of the numerous taxis to Vila Cabral, a 10 euro fare that took around 15 minutes. On arriving, we...More

About the neighbourhood
The apartment is on Cabral Beach. Great views and always something to see. Along the beach a little way are some rock pools. The rocks are contrasting colours and it is always lovely to spot things in the pools when the tide is out. At the complex is a lovely bar/ restaurant that has very good food. A Belgian couple run it . They speak excellent English and are very helpful and friendly. So if you feel too lazy to go to the many restaurants in town to eat you can eat at VC2 every day except Monday, when they close. There is a filter on the cold tap and it is then supposed to be drinkable, but I still use bottled water to drink. I use filtered water for tea and coffee, washing salad and brushing teeth.5 minutes walk is a local bakery that have a variety of breads and a couple of ...
Getting around
It is easy to walk to the town of Sal Rei. Taxis are cheap if you need a lift to or back from a beach bar! I hired a push bike once to go to Rabil pottery. I am not very fit and then realised how much of a hill it was towards the airport!! (my friend is fit and didn't notice it!) You can hire cars or quad bikes if you want, as well as scooters and push bikes and electric bikes. A lot of the roads are only very rough tracks and cobbles. There are a lot of organised tours too. Just depends on what you want.
