My partner Brian and I had the most amazing time....to wake each morning to the dawn chorus, sit in the evening infront of a toasty fire....this romantic home away from home is Ireland at its best. Thank you Kathleen for an unforgettable holiday x

We loved the peace and beauty of the countryside location and the amazing views out to Roaring Water Bay. It is just a short walk down to the shore and there is the sound of curlews and sea birds and we saw seals - and a heron in the cove. The cottage itself had everything we could want and combined modern amenities with a charming traditional feel. We felt very at home and comfortable there and were warmly welcomed by Kathleen. The local village is the picturesque Ballydehob, down narrow lanes, which is becoming quite a foody hotspot and for more shopping and lots of interest there is Schull and Skibbereen. The Skibbereen Heritage Centre with its Great Irish Famine Exhibition is excellent. We are planning our return visit….

Heron’s cove is a wonderful cottage with everything you could possibly want for a peaceful, Irish holiday. It overlooks Roaring Water Bay, which, in spite of its name is wonderfully quiet. There is a little private pathway down to the stony shore less than 5 minutes from the cottage, and decking by the house to take in the beautiful view. The cottage itself is beautifully set up with everything that you could possibly need and it was very clean, comfortable and welcoming.

Warm welcome to comfortable, three-bedroom, well appointed cottage very close to Roaringwater Bay which, fortunately, was far from roaring but calm and sunny all week. Swimming from nearby jetty. Great food in Ballydehob and interesting walks and places to visit. A great week. Thank you Kathleen.

We spent a very enjoyable week in heron’s cove cottage with our three children and small dog. It’s a great base for visiting a beautiful part of West Cork. The cottage is very clean, comfortable and has incredible views of roaring water bay. Kathleen is a super host, made us very welcome and we hope to visit again soon.

If you value P & Q, beautiful countryside, homely accommodation, then Heron’s Cove Cottage is the place to be. The owner was there to welcome us & offer her help if we needed it, which was well received.

My husband and I plus 2 dogs stayed in the beautiful cottage overlooking Roaring Water Bay. Its surrounded by green fields and beautiful views. It's on a working farm so we had to keep our dogs on leads at all times. The cottage had all the comforts of home and everything you want for a comfortable stay. It's a very tranquil place to get away for a break and would highly recommend it. Only 9 mins from Ballydehob, where you have some great bars/restaurants. It's also a great base for visiting Mizen Head, Schull, Baltimore, Skibbereen and Sherkin island. the only downside was about 10 metres of a dirt road going into the property. Kathleen made us very welcome and was contactable if you wanted anything.

Four of us spent a lovely, relaxing time at Heron's Cove Cottage. It's in a beautiful location, just above the water and surrounded by fields and hills (and grazing cattle). The cottage offers plenty of room for a group or small family, and the kitchen has most things you need to make meals (any other supplies can easily be obtained in nearby Ballydehob or the larger market town of Skibbereen). It's located about 10 mins from Ballydehob (the last stretch is on a narrow dirt road), a charming place in its own right. Be sure to use the EIR Code and Google Maps when first arriving, otherwise it can be a bit confusing. But Kathleen will provide detailed directions, if asked, and she is a great host, helpful and communicative. This is a great place to stay near many of the attractions of West Cork.

Heron's Cove Cottage is cosy, scrupulously clean and really well equipped. It has everything you might need for a self catering holiday, and is also very attractively decorated throughout. The views from the cottage windows are simply stunning. The owner Kathleen is friendly and so helpful. We will definitely be visiting again. The area is a wonderful place to visit. I would definitely recommend Budd's in Ballydehob as a place to eat and watch the world go by.

Lovely cottage in West Cook, about a 9 minute drive from Ballydehob, which is a great location as close to Schull, Barley cove beach and also Skibbereen and even Baltimore. House was great, very well equipped, good WiFi, smart TV and was a very warm house too, perfect for our family of six and dog.

About the neighbourhood
Ballydehob (Béal an Dá Chab) is a charming village on the south west coast of Ireland. Lying about 20 miles east of Mizen Head, Europe's most westerly point, it is embraced by colourful hills and rich natural beauty and wildlife; the perfect place from which to explore West Cork. The village and its environs has a vibrant and diverse population, and the variety of bars, good eating places, fun festivals and community events ensure a warm welcome. Enjoy a walk by the river and across the 12 arch bridge, and take a stroll through the village and maybe participate in some 'light refreshments'. And don't forget to experience Ballydehob by night either – live music and the craic are all part of the make up! West Cork is the place to head for – leaving hurried city lives behind to play al...
