The apartment has everything you need for preparing a tasty meal, in case you miss home. You are in the heart of the historic section of Mytilene referred to in antiquity as the 'island' where the Acropolis of the city-state of Mytilene once stood as well as the Temple of Aphrodite where Sappho recited her poems. Today, the neighbourhood consists of beautiful Neoclassical mansions built by the wealthy Mytilenian merchants of the early 20th century. The Petri Collection of Greek paintings is just across the street from the house. It is only two minutes walking to the Ermou Street shopping district with its colorful market and many narrow streets. In this area you can also see beautiful Greek Orthodox churches, impressive houses and buildings left from the Ottoman period, and eat at the best “ouzeries,” or local tavernas, which serve local seafood and ouzo just in front of the sea. The center of the city, with its bustling port lines with cafes, bars, shops and restaurants in just an easy ten minute walk away. Getting around Public Transport: Buses and taxis leave from the city center just 10 minutes away. Rental Car: If you have your own vehicle, street parking is very easy and you will be able to park right outside the house. The apartment is in an ideal location with beautiful sea views from the garden over the northern harbour. It is close to the main shopping area of Ermou Street. There are plenty of ouzeries and restaurants nearby. It is only a few minutes walk to the entrance to the castle. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The apartment is a good size and had all the equipment we needed for our two week stay. We will definitely be recommending the apartment to our friends and family.
