Three weeks in Calypso Villa - with a view beyond compare !
Vi stayed 6 people in Calypso Villa, situation in a family friendly, relatively quiet, guarded, resort. 200 meter walk to the famous Galleon beach. The whole area is UNESCO protected place. Located on a steep hill, the villa offers a fantastic view and easy beach access af the same time. The is a popular beach bar but almost no noise in the evening execpt for the faint sound of soca and calypso music coming from Shirley Heights just above on thursdays and sundays. Very good and pictoresque trails up to Shirley heights. Fair chance of spotting turtles in the bay. Only very minor issues with the villa. June and Bruce are lovely people who will make sure, that you get the perfect vacation. THAT VIEW !!!

This villa is absolutely stunning; the design of the house is full of charm and very spacious, the view is absolutely amazing, the location is great as we are walking distance to the beach and very close to the English harbour. Finally, June and Bruce, the owners are always fully available to ensure we have the best experience. We will be back

Perfect sunset views from the villa at a great location in Antigua!
The villa is breathtaking and in a perfect location in Antigua, morning coffees and seeing the sunrise on the big terrace was the ideal way of starting the day.
The villa is spacious and there was more than enough space for us all.
Galleon beach is a 2 mins walk and as there was 10 of us, we had a local driver who was lovely and would bring his mini bus for us, regardless of what time we called him....even at 3am, if we had a late night!
June and Bruce were so amazing and recommended so many places, if you are unsure on anything, they are always there to help.
Highly recommend it, especially if you have a large group with you.
Miss you Antigua....you were a dream.

Gorgeous home with Breathtaking Views
My family recently rented Calypso Villa for a multi-generational family reunion. From the moment we arrived, the relaxation began. Perhaps it was the views of the harbor and hillside that left us speechless and summoned calm, and the house has so many seating areas to enjoy these views. The beds and linens are super comfortable. If you leave the doors open, cute little birds come into the kitchen to say hello and then leave. The pool lights up at night and creates its own decadent ambiance. The kitchen has everything you need to make meals, but there are so many great restaurants that deliver, why would you? The house is in a gated community with its own beach and is surrounded by hiking trails with striking views. The owners Bruce and June are gracious and generous hosts, and just a text away to answer questions and give recommendations. We could go on all day with everything we loved, and if we could give Calypso 10 stars, we would.

Slice of heaven
We just returned from a great stay at Calypso Villa on Galleon beach. It is the most peaceful secluded spot with views to die for from the villa. Watching the sunset from a hammock on the deck with drink in hand was heaven.
June and Bruce were great hosts. June was in constant communication without being intrusive in any way. If we needed anything, she was on hand to resolve. We didn’t use a car but had a lovely taxi driver who was on hand to run us around whenever we needed, plus a water taxi ran straight from the beach. All in all a great holiday.

Cannot get better than that!
We were a family of 10 (6 adults, 4 children) staying at Calypso Villa.
what can I say, first the villa itself is beautiful and you can enjoy staying there for the entire day. Then, it is located right on one of the most beautiful beach in Antigua and in a short distance from many interesting things to see. Host was more than accommodating and gave us loads of recommendations for things we can see/eat/do in the area. Highly recommended!

Great Location, Lots to do, Great access to beach
Calypso is located in a solid location with a bunch of bars and restaurants within the area (towards the dockyard). We had a good time exploring the area and we received a bunch of helpful recommendations from June. June was overall very helpful and responsive for the most part. The property is also within walking distance to the beach as advertised. The property itself is great for large groups (we had 9 people altogether). and there were some bedrooms that offered privacy from the main part of the house. The bedrooms were equipped with air conditioners while the living room relied on natural air circulation, so at times it would get hot. Otherwise, I would recommend Calypso and booking with June as she was a great host.

Simply the best!
Wonderful stay with our 3 small children. We stayed at Calypso the last week of a 7-week trip; we were lucky to experience many different areas of beautiful Antigua and Calypso/Galleon Beach was our favorite; the perfect end to our extended trip and it will always hold a special place in our hearts! Now that we are back home there are daily debates about what everyone’s favorite beach on Antigua is and usually Galleon wins out. (Pigeon Beach—a quick drive away—is a close second because of the pirate ship park :)) Lovely community—amazing views—gorgeous beach that was never crowded—and great snorkeling with lots of turtle sightings. The views are as stunning as the other reviews say and there are lots of good restaurants and shops/galleries within a 5-10 minute drive. Another highlight was taking the water taxi to Nelson’s Dockyard. I can’t say enough about June and Bruce, the most warm and welcoming hosts. They were kind, helpful, incredibly responsive and so invested in sharing their love of the island with their guests. We hope to return with extended family; the separate bedrooms are ideal for groups who want to stay together but have a little separation. We stayed in the main part of the house and were able to use the lower level for remote work and schooling. We loved the quick walk down to the beach—others have mentioned the steep hill, but my 2 year old managed it just fine!—and really everything about our stay. Fantastic week and we highly recommend!

Gorgeous setting for a fantastic family vacation
We had a party of 10 - 2 families including our kids ages 15-22. The house was wonderful and provided plenty of spaces for us. Views were stunning! June was incredibly helpful in providing recommendations, arranging cars, and making us welcome. We loved the hikes we could take right from the villa that offered us great workouts and beautiful island views. Time spent on the beach was lovely and we enjoyed snorkeling and swimming with the sea turtles which were often around. The walk to the beach was do-able as we are all in good health and able-bodied, but it was very steep and would present challenges for some. I loved that everything was able to be open-air during the day, and waking up to that view of the harbor, sailboats, and hills was so good.We dined out a few times and cooked in as well - the kitchen was well-enough appointed to handle our group. The only trouble we had was with the internet - several of us needed to participate in school and work remotely, and the internet wasn't stable enough to support us, even when taking turns. They've done everything they can to boost it, but that did present a bit of challenge at times. All in all, every one of us had a fantastic vacation and LOVED our time at Calypso Villa and in Antigua! Almost forgot - June also invited us up the hill to their new home, the Reggae Villa. GORGEOUS and also available to rent, with an infinity pool. She even invited our daughters up for a sunset sip and photo shoot for their instagrams :)

Prime Location!
We enjoyed our vacation at Calypso immensely! Calypso is an especially good fit for people who are active and a little adventurous. The views from the pool deck and cabana are spectacular! The pool was a good size and the villa is surrounded by lush vegetation and flowering shrubs. There is a/c in the bedrooms but to fully enjoy the views it is best to have all the shutters open and the wind blowing through the open doors. The villa feels a little like living on the open hillside. At the time of our stay it did not have a clothes dryer or dishwasher, but it came equipped with everything we needed including a large coffee pot, local phone, beach chairs, plenty of hot water and reliable wifi.
The location is prime. Although we travelled to Rendezvous Beach, Half Moon Beach and a few others, we spent most of our time at or in the vicinity of the villa. Everything we wanted to do was right outside our door. We hiked the trails leading up to Shirley Heights and Carpenter Rock every morning. The trail heads are very close. Galleon Beach was a short walk away. Galleon Beach is not crowded and offers great snorkelling. You can swim to the Pillars of Hercules if you are physically fit. The Cheeky Marlin, the beach bar was open from about noon til dusk. The drive into Nelson's Dockyard is about 10 minutes.
June and Bruce were great hosts. They met us on arrival and were helpful in making suggestions on things to do and places to eat. They were available if needed and very quick to respond to any questions we had. June's enthusiasm and love for the area is obvious. She has roots here and it shows in the care she gives her property and the excitement she has in sharing it with others. Thank you June and Bruce for a lovely stay.

Galleon Beach Club is a private gated beachfront resort set in 20 acres of landscaped gardens in the heart of the Antigua National Park and UNESCO World Heritage Site of Nelsons Dockyard.
Getting around
A car is advisable as resort is down a steep hill and English Harbour only 5 mins drive away. There are many bars and restaurants and markets there and great nightlife. There is also an in season daytime 9-5 water taxi over to Nelsons Dockyard usually from December onwards……

Our guests usually rent a car from our local Titi car rental who can meet them at the airport which is only 25mins drive away. Otherwise there are taxis at the airport to Calypso Villa, Galleon Beach,English Harbour, Antigua.
