Windy Edge was designed and built by a former US ambassador to Japan and it is still known on the island as the Ambassador's House. Set on the top of Cinnamon Hill, it has sensational views over the Caribbean and Atlantic seas and catches the cooling breezes, unlike many coastal properties. Set on the top of Cinnamon Hill, it has sensational views over the Caribbean and Atlantic seas and catches the cooling breezes, unlike many coastal properties. It is a large well-designed home with high ceilings and ceiling fans, all the windows have adjustable aluminium louvred slats for security and are netted against insects. The whole house has recently been redecorated to a high standard throughout. It is a place to enjoy peace and tranquility in this beautiful island It is a spacious high ceilinged house, with large airy living and dining rooms, it sleeps up to 10, having five double bedrooms. 3 of the bedrooms have en suite facilities 2 bedrooms share a bathroom, making 4 bathrooms in total. A wide veranda surrounds the house with extensive al fresco dining area, barbecue, comfortable seating areas, and table tennis. The house stands in 2.5 acres of mature grounds with many tropical fruit trees for guests to enjoy and a good-sized pool (16'x32') which is serviced twice a week. Regular help from the housekeeper. Gardens are well-maintained, and are home to many varieties of exotic birds and butterflies. Beaches, restaurents and shops are all within easy reach. Please note, the pool is unfenced. The Ambassador's House was built on the site of the original plantation house for the Concordia Estate, a large estate producing cocoa and sugar. Many fragments of European china have been found in the ground around the house and these have been dated to around 1850 indicating that the plantation manager who came from Scotland had his own china shipped from home. Some of the fruit trees date back to the 1960s and are interesting varieties rarely seen nowadays, others have been planted by the owner who is a keen gardener. For anyone interested in plants or birds this place is a source of endless joy. More

I have stayed many times at this amazing house and every time has been a joy . It is incredibly comfortable , airy, a wonderful pool to Lounge around , BBQ, spacious grounds kept beautifully by Keston the gardener. The house has an awesome feel of serenity and is looked after by the fantastic Lesley Ann who knows everybody and keeps the place immaculate . She is always available to help and to advise !! The views are second to none , there is always a breeze on the verandas. Beaches are close by but it is a struggle to leave the pool !!! Great library of holiday reading too. Lazy days , great vibes makes this place unforgettable.

We stayed over new year 2018 for a week and really enjoyed the house, pool and gardens. Booking was easy and we would recommend this as an excellent place to stay for self catering in Tobago.

This is a spectacular spot. Really spectacular. Up in the hills behind Scarborough in its own substantial grounds, this is a house built in the traditional style. "Corridors" (verandas) on the outside are open to the view and the breeze and give loads of space (we were 11 including the baby) so there is a veranda for you - whether its quietly considering the view,, table tennis or that all important rum punch. The gardens with their flora and fauna is a real feature - birds (humming birds a favorite), frogs, bugs, bats abound keeping kids and grownups fascinated for hours - and then the flora; for me not so much the beautiful flowers but the avocado, lime, banana and mango waiting to be picked. The lovely Lesleyanne will welcome you and be on hand to help with whatever question you might have. She also changes sheets and generally cleans part way through your holiday doing a thorough job. This is the Caribbean so when this takes place will not necessarily be a fixed time! Make no mistake this is someones home, not a super modern purpose built holiday villa - no aicon (but lots of ceiling fans which we all agreed were better than aircon by the end of the holiday) and fixtures and fittings that are not brand new but more than adequate. You need a car to get to the local shops and the breathtaking beaches and beach towels are not provided. In summary, this is a more "authentic" Caribbean experience than you would get most other places in Tobago and the Caribbean in general. Its good value too. You should go for it!

My family and I stayed here during our vacation and it was just a wonderful experience. The time off from the busyness of our daily routines was definitely needed. I took advantage of this beautiful place and breathed in clean air while enjoying nature and the outrageous scenery in this property. LeslieAnne was very welcoming and great to my family.

I visit Tobago regularly for several months at a time and use budget accommodation in Store Bay. However, I like to escape the busy and noise polluted southern tip of the island and stay for a few days at Ambassador's House which is also known as Windy Edge. It is heaven there. The house is old colonial style and spacious and sits on top of a hill mid island with stunning views in every direction and one can see both the Caribbean and Atlantic seas. It is comfortable and very well equipped. My partner was delighted that we could watch English cricket and all the other sports he loves on TV as there is Directv. There is a verandah all around the house where one can while away the days and evenings enjoying the breeze and the bird life. The property is peaceful and secluded (which was a huge relief as it was election time!) and there is both sun and shade in the lovely garden area around the sparkling pool which is a good size for swimming. I am extremely envious of the owners of this wonderful place and wish I could stay there forever!! I thoroughly recommend it - unless you hate peace and quiet!!

The house and garden are spacious and well resourced including seasonal fresh fruit especially the limes whcih seem to be year round. Lots of birds and animals to watch and of course the sunsets are always magic. we also had some really good and unusual rainbows this visit. This is about my 10th visit to the house and I have stayed in other villas on Tobago but prefer to stay at The ambassadors House and am really disappointed if it is booked to someone else when I want to go there. I took soem friends who haven't been to the Caribbean at all and they also loved it. Once you have found the house and I have to say that the mytobago website map is the best for this I find its easy to travel all over the island. I usually pop into the supermarket on my way to the house when I arrive on the island and then get Lesleyann to cook a special meal once we have settled in.

Spacious yet cozy, a place where you can be noisy without disturbing the peace or find a secluded spot whilst everyone else is partying. We had a large group and everyone was comfortably accommodated. The location was very private yet close to all amenities. Just be careful of what's left outside as 'Goldy' would surely get hold of it.

Our time in Tobago was enriched by our stay at Windy Edge. We were six adults, and all of us had plenty of space to walk, swim and sleep. Lesley Ann is a superb cook, and she introduced most of us to Carribean cuisine. It was very relaxing to come back to Windy Edge in the evening and enjoy peaceful private hilltop retreat, with a constantly changing view of the wildlife, including hummingbirds and abouti. There was a security guard, as there is often in TT, who spent the nights patrolling the villa property.

We held our wedding and cocktail reception on November 17th at the villa and we had a beautiful experience with friends and family. The house is spacious and very nature friendly, which was lovely for the occasion. Also the view from the Villa on Tobago is breathtaking. The place is cool enough and no A/C is needed, neither much repellent. We will recommend this place for large families or groups. The assistance of the house keeper is very pleasant and the owner (Charlotte) has been very helpful and considerate for the organization of our wedding. We were lucky to have met with Charlotte in person and she was very welcoming and she really does her best to make your stay as unforgettable as possible!!!

About the neighbourhood
The area known as Concordia used to be a large cocoa estate in the old plantation days. Now it is a pleasant residential area in the hills about ten minutes from the nearest beach, Little Bacolet Bay. Ambassador's House lies up a drive just off the road across the island to the northern Caribbean coast, where you will find many beautiful beaches, some with small bars, some by a small fishing village. The main town of Tobago, Scarborough is down the hill about a 10-minute drive away. It has a vibrant market and banks, pharmacies, supermarket and post office. A variety of activities and trips are available; rain forest hikes, birdwatching, deep-sea fishing, scuba-diving, snorkeling, sailing, golf and swimming. Restaurents are located all over the island and very accessible from the house,...
