I have thought long and hard about our holiday at the Ocean View apartment, and tried to give an honest review. The apartment itself is well equipped with a wonderful balcony. It catches the breeze which you wont appreciate until you arrive. The pool is just the right size with sun beds and chairs, the beach is a two minute walk away and is nearly always deserted. The manager "Jason" who was working on site during our visit was unbelievably pleasant and helpful, nothing was too much trouble for him and he helped us on numerous occasions.... So far so good ! Very important you will require transport, as you are located in a suburb of Scarborough and there are no shops or restaurants in walking distance. The rest of the Island is beautiful and it would be such a shame not to see it. The owners arranged a hire car with "Tourist Class Auto Rental & Leasing". The car was reliable, in good condition and half the price of the international companies, we would strongly recommend this friendly service. Mosquito's can be a problem so take plenty of spray, there is a net over the bed, but one of the little buggers invariably gets in. Unfortunately there is a negative side to the apartment. To you and I it is a holiday home. To the owners it is a commercial enterprise, they will therefore rent the main house out if they are not there. This happened for five days of our stay when a family of nine moved in with six children. Previously the apartment was advertised as being an ideal of peace and calm ( I note this has since been deleted !), for us it turned into Butlins. At £118/night I found that unacceptable. We therefore would not go back. I would advise you to check who you will be sharing with, before making a booking. Steve

The breezes were fantastic all day with all the windows and doors open. The huge 2 sided balcony was great for sitting out on, or laying out clothes or dive gear to dry. Steph is super friendly and very available. We met her husband, Jason, briefly, but then he was gone most of our visit. There's a huge amount of space in the living area, and all the dishes you'd need for meals, as well as freezer, microwave, stove and huge refrigerator. There's no AC, but you don't need it. We slept under the mosquito netting (because the monsters love me) and had the standing fan on. We slept very well each night. I LOVED the pool! Having it to ourselves, able to swim laps, sit out and sun or read in the shade of the pool house - perfect!
You definitely need a rental car if you stay here, as it's in a quiet, but separate "subdivision" of Scarborough.
Thanks, Steph, for a great, low key visit!

I had a long weekend and wanted R&R and just chill-out. Well I got a lot more than I asked for. Really great lookout seeing the sun rise over the bay with a three (3) minute walk to Minister's Bay where it is great for walking exercises, surfing, diving between the rocky areas you maybe lucky to catch a Lobster or two. I took my massages between the waves a rocks. Peaceful nights with fresh breeze there is no need for air conditioning. Eating out was the plan which I never had a problem with but if you want too all the amenities are there for your liking. Steph was really nice ensuring we were taken care off all the way, even when I ran into trouble with my return flight.
For your in and out it maybe a good idea to have your own form of transport.
Casa Cassini remains on my list and I will be back.

My husband and I don't do the 'all inclusive holiday' we like to book our own flights, accommodation and make our arrangements for eating. Theses days we don't stay in Hotels for more than two nights, so when we were looking at Tobago we were delighted to come across Casa Cassini, a self contained one bedroom apartment, it did not disappoint. Location was great, apartment had everything we needed. The lovely big balcony ( where we spent all of our time when we were not out discovering the delights of Tobago) has lots of shade and fab views of a coconut plantation and the sea.
After a day out, sight seeing it was so nice to return and have a swim in the "perfect pool". This apartment comes with the use of the owners (Steve and Jan......who are just the perfect hosts too) pool, which is just the most wonderful relaxing experience when it's so hot outside. We nicked named it "Perfect Pool" it was the perfect temperature, size and location and we had it all to ourselves.
One piece of advice, if you want to see the Island and visit all the amazing beaches etc, you need to hire a car. We hired a car for the whole week (Steve arranged this for us and we were so glad we did). We also ate at the top three restaurants (on trip advisor) two of them are located on the other side of the Island and I don't know how easy it would have been to get a taxi.
We found everywhere we went was quiet, the beaches would only have a handful of people on them. We also did a walk to a waterfall (Steve can give you directions, as it was off the beaten track) and saw nobody for three hours and had the waterfall and pool to ourselves.
We are not ' intrepid explorers' but like just like to do 'our thing' and see a bit of the place we are visiting. If you like self catering, quite Islands and a bit of driving, then this apartment on this Island is for you.
We loved it and would recommend it.

My boyfriend & I had a great stay here! We are both in our late twenties but were looking for somewhere quiet & away from it all to relax. Casa Cassini was perfect for this. We enjoyed eating our breakfast on the balcony taking in the beautiful view.
Steve & Jan are a lovely couple who were only too happy to help us out with anything we needed! We were picked up from the airport and provided with a starter pack of food which included bread, butter, jam, water etc. Steve even let my boyfriend borrow a body board so that he could have a go on the waves. We were provided with clean bathroom & beach towels which were refreshed three times during our 10 day stay. The nearest beach is about a 2 minute walk & it literally feels like your own! However Tobago has so many beaches to visit...you are spoilt for choice. Getting a rental car is a must and having this gave us the freedom to get around easily when we wanted & see the island. We rented a car from a company near the airport (Alamo) and it cost about £170 for seven days. However, there are other options.
Overall, we had an amazing holiday which was definitely helped by staying at Casa Cassini! We would definitely recommend it.

We stayed at Casa Cassini as a couple (we are in our mid-20s). Reservation and booking was a piece of cake. Steve, one of the owners, responded promptly to our email, talked to us on the phone and answered all our questions. He picked us up (on Christmas day!) from the airport and returned us (on New Years Day). Steve also drove us to a grocery store that was open on the holiday and waited with us until we completed our shopping. The apartment was very well appointed with all the kitchen ware we could want or need. There was also a nice collection of condiments and light groceries already in the fridge. On one hand, we loved the blessed quiet, and on the other hand we felt a little isolated.
As this was our first experience with vacation rental (rather than hotel suite), the self-catering experience took some getting used to. This is no fault of the Cassinis, but it didn’t feel quite like a vacation making our own bed, cooking our own meals, straightening our own bathroom, etc. But with the money we saved, it was worth the slight lack of luxury it in the end. Afterall, it wasn’t our honeymoon or anything. During our week stay, we had one room-cleaning which was sufficient (although we cooked daily and therefore needed to take out trash every day or so). We went to the nearly deserted beach almost daily. I swam laps in the pool and my husband took a dip every so often. Steve even loaned my husband his machete and we treated ourselves to fresh coconut water from the plentiful trees on the shore.
One note is that this is not a very accessible part of the island. We had to fight with taxi drivers daily to take us to the house as some of them [acted like they] had never heard of it, didn’t recognize the street name or even the reference landmarks. Also, most of the things we wanted to do were clear on the other end of the island (Sunday School Pan Exhibition, Restaurants, Bars) so taxis were a real expense (we sometimes spent US$70+/day). We generally intended to cook for ourselves every day, but the few times we wanted to go out to dinner, there was nothing in walking or even short driving distance and going into town was a whole big production. After dark, we didn’t feel comfortable walking down to the taxi stand, let alone waiting there for a pickup. There is a taxi stand just down the road, but most of them only go as far as Scarborough (a 5 minute drive). Once in Scarborough proper, taxis to other villages (and even back to Casa Cassini) were hard to come by. Steve did recommend a rental car company to us, but neither of us are familiar with left-hand driving and didn’t feel comfortable renting. About halfway through our stay, Jan recommended a taxi service to us and they took us to a New Years Eve party and to church on Sunday. We found them convenient, if expensive.
No complaints about the place, however if we return to Tobago again, we would likely stay on a more lively part of the island.

Everything was perfect! Location! Accommodation! Close out beaches, shopping centres for groceries, restaurants....everything from a formal sit down meal to some amazing island cooking we picked up from the road side cook stands. Steve and Jan are a wealth of information about the island. They were both very friendly and helpful with helping us plan our trip and to make the most of our time while visiting Tobago. We rented a car which Steve helped arrange. We explored the island by car. We enjoyed snorkelling, beach combing, swimming under a waterfall, hiking, eating, relaxing, and sight seeing. Even did some bird watching right out the front door!! Beautiful people and a beautiful place to stay and feel refreshed.

We absolutely loved our stay at Casa Cassini. Our last few vacations we stayed at all-inclusive resorts and we were looking for a change from the locked-in environment. I was a bit apprehensive about staying in a guest house situation with the landlord on site, but after reading the positive reviews, I decided to take a chance. Best decision we made, as the reviews were spot-on. Steve did indeed meet us at the airport and was totally helpful in many ways without being intrusive. We flew all night and arrived in the morning and were thrilled when we saw our accommodations: tastefully furnished open suite, facing the ocean breeze. Steve left a starter package in the fridge of cheese, bread, etc.Steve and Jan were both knowledgeable on things to do, places to go. They got us the best deals on catamaran rides, car rentals, etc. When you're only there for a week, this maximizes your enjoyment of your vacation. We started and ended each day on our balcony, enjoying the view and breeze. Casa Cassini also has a pool which is perfect for aqua Fit exercises. A private beach is a 5 minute pretty walk through the woods away and we loved strolling there and playing in the waves. Other days we would drive around the island and check out other beaches that Steve and Jan recommended.
Jan and Steve were wonderful hosts. There when you needed them.
We had a fantastic vacation and we'll be back. Casa Cassini: Totally Chilled.

Good accommodation with an excellent sea view over 'your own local beach'. The owners, Steve and Jan could not have been more helpful and friendly, yet left you alone as much as you wanted. The private swimming pool is an ideal way to cool off from the heat of the day. Arrival and departure was made really easy by Steve meeting and taking us to the airport. Eating breakfast each morning on the balcony watching the birds and listening to their lovely songs is one of the real memories of our hoilday. We would thoroughly recommend this property to anyone who is looking for a comfortable stay in a good location to see the lovely island of Tobago. However, you will need to hire a car to get around. Driving on the island is straight forward and the cost of fuel a fraction of the price of that in the UK.
