Mark Cottage is situated eight miles from the village of Gatehouse of Fleet and three miles from Creetown on the scenic Solway coastline of Dumfries & Galloway. They are situated within 1000 acres of tranquility of Mark Farm - a family-run working farm rearing sheep and cattle including the largest herd of the famous Belted Galloway in Scotland. This self catering cottage is a perfect base from which to explore this picturesque region and to participate in the many activities it has to offer such as walking, mountain biking, bird watching or for those who just want to get away from hustle and bustle to completely relax! The cottage comfortably sleeps 5 and comprises of a double bedroom, a twin room and a single room - all having wonderful views of the hills and farmland. The living/dining room has a wonderful wood burner and a well stocked bookshelf of puzzles, boardgames and books as well as TV and DVD player. There is a lovely sunny porch in which to sit, relax and enjoy the tranquility and stunning views especially the beautiful sunsets! The well equipped kitchen has cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave and washing machine. The cottage is heated by the woodburner which also heats the radiators in the sitting room, single room and double room. There are also electric slim panel heaters. Step outside on a perfect clear dark night and gaze at the spectacular night skies with countless stars to be seen. Other features include garage, sturdy garden table and chairs and bbq. Pibble Loch situated not far from the cottage so if you are brave enough to have a dip in the loch then it is a must! Dogs are welcome at no extra charge as long as they are well behaved in the cottage and that they do not disturb the farm stock or wildlife on the farm. Linen is provided but you are requested to bring your own towels. Logs and coal are provided, however there is a £1 coin meter for the electricity. Cot and highchair available on request. A very comfortable and cosy cottage. The view from the cottage is wonderful, the hosts are great and extremely helpful. We enjoyed visits from Shinga and Milo, the dogs who live on the farm. It serves as a great base for visiting the surrounding region....More
