Ridgeway is an attractive holiday cottage at Town Farm, that has recently been converted. Town Farm is a working farm nestled at the foot of the Chiltern Hills and has been run by the Leach family since the early 1930s. About 1,000 sheep are farmed on the Beacon Hill and surrounding high ground, while the lower fields are used for crop cultivation. The `Pick Your Own` opens in June and guests can take a picnic and stock up on fruit and vegetables. The farm enjoys fantastic views of the surrounding countryside including the local landmark - Ivinghoe Beacon, which marks the start of the famous Ridgeway Walk. Lovely Christmas
We rented Ridgeway for a family Christmas as our daughter lives in Hemel Hempstead and couldn't make it home for Christmas. Ridgeway was perfect for a family of four with grown up children. The main open plan living area / kitchen was larger than it appeared in the photographs, making for a very pleasant living area. Location is great for active families with Ivinghoe beacon and the the ridgeway walk right on the doorstep. Only really small points to improve - the kitchen could be slightly better equipped if you intend to cook meals in the cottage. We were there for Christmas and cooked a full Christmas lunch which was possible with a little juggling. But a little more cutlery and crockery would make life easier. Booking and Arrangements for access to the accommodation were fine, with lots of communication. We were made to feel welcome and the office on site on the gram means somebody is usually around if you have questions or need any help. Very nice place in a surprisingly rural location.

Peace and quiet.
If you like self-catering and are looking for peace and quiet this is the place for you. The property is equipped with everything you might need, has two double bedrooms, so the brother and his wife was able to join us for a few days. Although, while there, we had a fair bit of rain it was soothing to listen to the pitter patter of raindrops on the gravel in the courtyard. This is a working farm, but nothing dangerous I would suggest, the field with the rams is signposted, so STAY OUT. The farm is situated in the countryside, 5 mins drive to nearest village with small shop, 15 mins to nearest town with a Supermarket, easy to follow directions in the welcome pack. Beautiful area for walking. Also available on the farm are caravan stands and a camping area. We give it 100%.

A great location and cottage
This was a different holiday for us as we weren't by a beach! We used this cottage as a base for two visits to London and museums and attractions in the area (Roald Dahl museum, Buckinghamshire steam centre). The cottage caters well for families with a lovely playground and tennis court. It perhaps lacks the "cosiness" of other cottage that have books and games that can be used by those staying at the premises. We were also a bit confused as to how the heating system worked, the instructions stating that the timer would control the heating so should not be touched but on arrival all war switches were in the off position, similarly with the underfloor heating and towel rail. The community cottages in the courtyard would lend itself to family or large group breaks. I would recommend this cottage to others

So good I want a return visit
This was the perfect accommodation for my elderly (with walker) Mother and family. The accommodation is all on one level including the walk-in shower, and very spacious. The farm and surrounding countryside is really beautiful and quiet. The location is very easy for visiting the numerous tourist sites and villages in Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Oxfordshire and Cambridgeshire (we lost track of the county borders we crossed in our two week stay). The staff were all very helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend this for anyone.

About the neighbourhood
The cottage is at the base of the Chiltern Hills, a beautiful wooded set of rolling hills in the centre of England. London is only 50 minute train ride away, with a wealth of attractions for the visitor. More locally both Ascott House and Waddesdon Manor are 10 minutes and 30 minutes away respectively. Both are owned by the Rothschild family and are stunning properties - Waddesdon has the appearance of a French chateau and is filled with beautiful furniture. Ascott House was described as a 'A palace like cottage, the most luxurious and lovely thing I ever saw'. This was how Gladstone's daughter, Mary, described Ascott after a visit in the 1880s. If you prefer more Medieval History, Warwick Castle or Hampton Court are both accessible (but in opposite directions!) and both offer medieval entertainment at certain times of the year.
