Near the house there is also little park with children's play area and tennis courts. Guest Access: * Fully equipped kitchen * Dinning area * Living area * Spacious courtyard * Study / TV room * BBQ (see conditions below) * Wifi * Private carparking A family sized 'Weber' gas BBQ is available for use in the courtyard, upon request. Kindly note that an additional 10 euros is chargeable for cleaning the gas BBQ when the guests depart the property. This is payable by cash to our caretaker. Interaction with Guests: Our friendly British caretaker (she speaks French as well) will assist to welcome guests upon their arrival. The Neighborhood: Olonzac is known as the 'capital of the Minervois', the Languedob-Roussillon wine region in southern France. The Languedoc vineyard is the oldest French vineyard with plenty of wine related events and festive moments from April to October. The region is also home to mountainous landscapes and Mediterranean beaches, towns of arts and history, abbeys and castles. Olonzac is close to a large number of beautiful small villages, some are medieval and steep in history. It is 2 mins drive to the Canal at Homps - cruising along Canal du Midi and walking or cycling along the tow paths is a popular holiday option. We are also an easy drive to Carcassonne and Montpelier which have a good selection of restaurants throughout. Take note not all restaurants are open during the winter months. A celebrated and colourful market takes place every Tuesday morning in our village, offering a generous selection of regional produce: oysters, salted meats, charcuterie, goat cheeses, honey, olive oil... to mention just a few. We are a min walk from the weekly market place. A live band plays at the popular Cafe de la Poste on Tuesday market day and on Sunday evenings. There is a lake around the corner from the village, Lac de Jouarres. It is popular for swimming, picnics and BBQs. It has a nice cafe there and just 5 mins drive away. Due to Olonzac's proximity to the Mediterranean, the area offers one of the best and sunniest climates of the whole of France. There are more than 300 days of sunshine per year. It is about 45 mins drive to Mediterranean beaches around Narbonne, Perpignan and Beziers. For the more adventurous guests who wish to proceed further south, Barcelona is a mere 3 hours drive away for some tasty tapas! More

About the neighbourhood
Olonzac is the administrative capital of the Minervois wine area so it is an active village all year round without being busy. There are 3 cafes/bars and 2 restaurants open all year round. There are also 3 bakeries, 2 butchers, 2 grocers shops, a charcuterie, flower shop, 2 chemists, a fish shop and a post office all within walking distance of the house. On the outskirts of the town you will find two supermarkets. There is a lovely park with great play areas for children, pleasant walks and 3 tennis courts for hire. 3km outside the town is a large lake with stone beach where you can swim (life guards are on duty in the summer) and there is a nice cafe for drinks. You can also fish in designated places and there are lovely walks around the lake. Equally close is the pretty village of ...
