Holiday Rental House
Captain's Cabin is an enchanting and romantic Grade II listed holiday cottage in the centre of arguably the prettiest chocolate box town in the Cotswolds, Bourton On The Water. There is a private parking space for one medium sized car directly in front of the cottage. One small pet allowed at our discretion PLEASE ENQUIRE before booking . The cottage boasts plenty of traditional charm with period features, exposed beams (lowest downstairs 5ft 7) , reclaimed oak flooring with a lovely inglenook fireplace (one of the largest I have ever seen) and a dual fuel traditional log burner for cosy evenings. There are exposed stone walls in some rooms with honey coloured Cotswold stone but the cottage is fully central heated on demand to keep you toasty! The cottage is set over three floors with charming traditional (but steep) staircases which may be unsuitable for the elderly, very young or those who have mobility problems but there are banister rails on both sets of stairs. The ground floor houses the main living space and modern fitted kitchen, there is free wi fi and a SMART TV/DVD player plus portable Bluetooth speaker. There is a fold out dining table with three chairs as well as a cosy leather sofa and italian leather cream bucket chair. Well equipped kitchen with slimline dishwasher. The fridge is a larder fridge so no freezer compartment. Tassimo coffee maker .The first floor has a lovely double bedroom which has a Grade II status stone mullion window as a centre piece and good sized floor to ceiling triple wardrobe and full length mirror, also on this floor is a modern bathroom with bath, shower over bath and dual towel rail radiator and vanity units with touch free LED mirror, basin and toilet. The 2nd floor takes you up to a single bedroom with views over the rooftops to the town and rolling hills beyond. Downstairs there is a small partly enclosed courtyard to the front of the cottage with seating for two which is a suntrap each summer afternoon and perfect for al fresco dining. The town is at the end of the drive where you can picnic along the beautiful River Windrush or have a cream tea in one of the many tea shops. If shopping is your thing there are lots of bespoke shops to choose from in Bourton and the surrounding villages. For evening meals there are a good selection of eateries for any taste and budget and are right on your doorstep. Most pubs in the village and nearby all accept dogs (wet or dry!) .Despite the bustle of the town all you can hear as you relax in the small courtyard with a hot drink or glass of champagne is the singing of the birds!! Check out the history of Captains cabin from search engines to find out more about this and the adjoining cottages, set off the Main Street. Bourton is around 40 minutes from Oxford and is centrally located for visiting other Cotswold villages such as The Slaughters, Chipping Norton, Burford , Bibury, Chipping Camden, Moreton in Marsh and Broadway. Buses stop at the end of Rectory Lane where the cottage is situated so very convenient for public transport. Check in time is 3pm and check out 10am. This is to ensure any issues can be sorted before next changeover. We do allow one small pet but PLEASE ENQUIRE before booking and if a dog we only allow certain small breeds. Also no pets allowed upstairs or on the furniture for the comfort of all our guests. At the back of the property a pretty lane leads you to footpaths which are great for getting to the Slaughters which is a 20-30 minute walk and you can enjoy a drink looking out over the river and water mill at Lower Slaughter which is a gorgeous place. Property is set over 57 sqm, 613 sq feet.More

About the neighbourhood
Bourton is an ideal base for exploring the Cotswolds. Local towns include Chipping Norton, Chipping Camden,Burford,Bibury, Upper and Lower Slaughter, Stow On the Wold, Morton in the Marsh and Broadway. Also Oxford is only 40 minutes away . Bourton also has amenities for our younger guests with the model village and Birdland. Fans of Downton Abbey should also be aware of towns within a couple of miles away that were used in filing such as Shilton. If you enjoy browsing around curiosity shops or dining out in a local cafe or restaurant overlooking the River Windrush Bourton is the place to be. Bourton Vale Horse Riding is 2 minutes up the road and during the Summer Holidays they also have clubs for children and pony expeditions.
Getting around
Directly at the end of Rectory Lane there is a bus route that can take you to Moreton in the Marsh and other major towns. Bus 801. There is also a tourist information shop in Bourton where they have always been very helpful on getting around. If you take the bus to Moreton you can hire cars from Avis . Bicycles can be hired from Hartwells in the village center.
