This was a lovely house, spacious and in a good location. We were delighted with the size, situation, furnishings etc. However, there were various things amiss, and I felt that they needed to be spelt out, as they had been written in the guest book as far back as 2015, but had not been addressed. BEDROOMS.- no mirror in the main bedroom, other than over the washbasin, therefore nowhere to blow dry your hair, but NO PLUG SOCKETS! So no blowdrying could be done. No hairdryer anyway. In the main bedroom , there was a plug socket at bottom of the wardrobe, inside, next to the far skirting board, and a socket behind a bedside locker. None could be used for a hairdryer. All the bedrooms were short on plug sockets, so 3 of us had to buy extension leads! (we had mobile phones to charge, a laptop to use, etc) The lighting was inadequate. In the "Cottages4you" list of requirements, there is supposed to be a light for each person in bed. No waste paper baskets in the bedrooms. The twin room was very poorly furnished; very thin mattresses on the beds, very little space in the room, the large drawer from the base of the wardrobe was missing. Only one thin pillow each bed. The room is obviously set up just for children but in a house advertised as having 4 double bedrooms, it should be realised that 2 adults may be using that room. Previous guests have noted that the standard of that room should be brought up to the standard of the others. A larger room should have been used for a twin bedded room. BATHROOMS There was no shelf or rack in the shower cubicle for shampoo/soap etc, we had to put them on the shower floor. There was no shelf over the washbasin for toothbrush/paste etc There were no toilet roll holders, and the toilet seat in family bathroom was very loose, and swiveled around, this is probably due to the user having to swivel round on the seat,to retrieve the toilet roll from the flush cylinder, causing the fittings to loosen. SITTING ROOMS. No coffee tables in either room, so nowhere to put a glass of wine or a cup of coffee. No table lamps in one room, and the strength of the light from the ceiling lights was so poor we could not read in that room after dusk. The other sitting room had two table lights, each at the furthest place possible from the settees, so they were useless for reading, hence we bought extension leads, and read in bed!! Yes, the cottage receives the customer satisfaction awards, (as mine has done, this year) but I would dread to think that my customers were short of the above basic things to ensure a comfortable holiday. When the annual inspection takes place, the agent should be checking for all these things, after all, they are written down as mandatory requirements. Having said all that, the house was in all other respects, lovely and the 5 of us who were there were very pleased with the kitchen, its dining table and equipment, and the large TV, in addition to the overall ambiance. And yes, we would return, but would know what to bring with us!!
