The Wee Hauf has an ideal location from which you can explore the many attractions of the ancient Kingdom of Fife, from the golfing heritage of the Auld Course at St. Andrews, to the art gallery in Kirkcaldy, hometown of Jack Vettriano. There are plenty of local events, theatre and arts, sporting activity and motor racing at the Racewall and Knockhill to enjoy. More than lots of things to do, there's plenty of peace and quiet, so you can relax in Fife's beautiful countryside and coastline, including the Lomond Hills and Aberdour's Silver Sand beach. There's a convenience store in the village, and a Wicked cheesecake/icecream shop. With retail and leisure parks nearby, you don't have far to go to shop, eat out, see a film or go bowling Just 20min from Edinburgh, the Wee Hauf is a short hop to the buzz of Edinburgh, for Hogmany or the world renown Festivals, as well as providing a great base to get out and explore Scotland. Dunfermline has excellent transport links by bus and rail, and the Wee Hauf is close to J3 on the M90. In under an hour, you can be in Perth, gateway to the Highlands, visit the C.R.Mackintosh designed tearooms in Glasgow, or relax in Peebles, among rolling Borders hills and salmon rivers. We like living here, come and see why!More

Staying at Wee Hauf
A cosy little apartment conveniently situated near major roads and shops and within a short travelling distance to Edinburgh and other places of interest. Warm and comfortable with a smart modern shower room. The kitchen was well equipped but the working space was rather limited. Only other problem was that there is no parking directly alongside the house on a busy main road. However we very much enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone who needed a convenient base for sightseeing or commuting,

Thanks for your kind words, glad you enjoyed your stay. Just to clarify, it is possible to park directly outside the Wee Hauf but only for 20minutes to un/load, then you have to move to the opposite side.

Brilliant
Always a very friendly welcome from the owner who lives next door. Any problems you know where to go. I've stayed there a couple of times and always found everything as advertised and central to everything.

Comfortable little hideaway
Stayed here while our house was being done up. Really comfortable home from home. Owner had thought of everything. Village really easy to access everywhere from. Great fish and chips at Romano's!

Lovely Holiday Home
This is a lovely home. Comfortable for our Scottish break, warm and inviting. It is tastefully decorated and convenient to many of the historic sites that we were looking to visit. It is on a moderately busy road, with on street parking, but there was never an issue parking right in front of the house. Thanks to Fanella for her wonderful hospitality!

nice little place
The cottage it's self was lovely. Small from the outside but big enough inside. Good size bedroom, lovely garden, great heating and internet. Everything finished to a high standard. We had very bad luck with the weather so didn't get to visit all the places we planned. The cottage is a good base for visiting the area and is on a good bus route. But we didn't think much of crossgates, maybe if the weather had been better....

Thanks for letting others know what you thought of our wee place, glad you liked it. We try hard to keep it in good shape. I can understand your not being impressed with the village, but it does have a local shop and other amenities even if it isn't exactly pretty. I hope you went into Dunfermline, as that is attractive, with the abbey and the gothic town hall clock!

Nice relaxing break in comfortable surroundings
3rd visit and still top class. Easy access to Fife and surrounding areas with good road/rail connections nearby. Edinburgh a short rail journey away and plenty to see and do in the area. Clean comfortable accommodation as usual and some excellent improvements carried out for benefit of guests. Cannot be faulted. Hopefully be back by year end, if not will return next Spring again. Thank you Fenella

Delightful little place with excellent transport connections
My girlfriend and I had a wonderful time in the Wee Hauf. The house, although small looking from the outside, was very spacious with wonderful facilities. We loved relaxing with a coffee in the morning and opening the curtains in the bedroom (really has a cosy feel about it). In terms of location the Wee Hauf is perfectly positioned. It has excellent transport links opening up the whole of Scotland which are just a short walk away (great if you don't come by car). We spent a few days in St. Andrews and a couple of days in Edinburgh which are just a short coach ride away. James All-in-all we had a wonderful experience and would highly recommend.

Thanks very much for providing a review that's so helpful to others in understanding the benefits of the Wee Hauf, especially for access to public transport around this part of Scotland. I'm pleased you enjoyed breakfasting with the view over the garden, was something I liked to do when I lived there! Best wishes, Fenella

About the neighbourhood
We are located 3 miles east of Dunfermline, the ancient capital of Scotland, home to some of Fife and Scotlands finest historical and tourist attractions.Dunfermlines royal and monastic past dominate the town which boasts a royal palace, a 12th Century Abbey (final resting place of Robert the Bruce and burial site of eleven other Scottish kings and queens), a restored 15th Century Abbot House and the cave in which St Margaret bathed the feet of the poor. King Malcolm Canmore established his court after the death of Macbeth (yes, that Macbeth!) at the now ruined fortified tower in the heart of what is now the horticultural splendour of Pittencrieff Park. The town also has a modern shopping centre, and a variety of restaurants, pubs and nightclubs.Dunfermlines perfect location offers you the ideal base to discover the magnificent Kingdom of Fife, as well as Edinburgh and the heart of Scotland beyond.
Getting around
There is a transport hub at Halbeath Park & Ride less than a mile away at the edge of the village, with direct express buses connecting all over Scotland, and to local buses that stop just a few metres from the door! The local buses will take you to Queen Margaret train station from which you can get a local train round Fife or to Edinburgh and from there connect with trains all over Scotland. The Wee Hauf is close to Junction 3 of the M90 motorway and connects to the motorway network to Edinburgh, Glasgow and further.
