The Sea Swallow is a beautiful old seaside fisherman's cottage, nestled in a quiet nook a few steps from the water, shops, wonderful eateries and galleries by the medieval church of Fowey, a picturesque and ancient Cornish harbour town perched alongside one of England's most unspoilt estuaries in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. A short stroll to sandy beaches, walks along some of the loveliest heritage coastal paths, kayaking up river for a picnic in the spot that inspired Wind in the Willows, or some truly good food and lovely little shops, it's the perfect base for exploring Cornwall. A short stroll to sandy beaches, walks along some of the loveliest heritage coastal paths, kayaking up river for a picnic in the spot that inspired Wind in the Willows, or some truly good food and lovely little shops, it's the perfect base for exploring Cornwall. The two beautiful, spacious bedrooms have sumptuous kingsize beds and deliciously luxurious goose down duvets covered in pure natural linen and Egyptian cotton sateen. If feathers give you the sneezes just let us know and we'll happily tuck away the goose down and instead make up the beds with our pure cotton anti-allergy duvets and pillows. The largest bedroom has a gorgeous window seat with views to the water that is also designed to be made up as a single bed, with soft muslin curtains to pull across creating a snug extra sleeping nook. There's a cot if needed, and each bedroom has a hairdryer, sewing kit and clock. There is a £50 fee for the extra single bed or cot. The stylish kitchen is wonderfully equipped with Smeg fridge-freezer and dishwasher, washer-dryer, microwave, Dualit toaster and with all the crockery, cutlery, pots, pans and utensils you could need. Wake up to a perfect latte from the Nespresso coffee machine, stocked with coffee pods... then pop round the corner for brunch. The beautiful bathroom has a wet room rain shower and extra deep tub for a soothing candlelit soak. There's an ample supply of thick fluffy towels, with snuggly towelling bathrobes and slippers. Hidden behind the cottage is a little, secluded courtyard garden, a cosy spot for breakfast or to while away candlelit evenings in the gentle Cornish climate. There are books, games, WiFi, MP3 dock and iPod loaded with lovely tunes, internet TV and subscription to Amazon Film so you can cuddle up with your favourite flicks. for the little ones... If you're holidaying with babies or small children you can travel a little lighter as we can provide a cot with bedding, including extra sheets, trip-trap highchair, bumbo chair, baby bath, crockery and cutlery, microwave steriliser, food mixer, little step-up, changing mat, anti-door slammers, socket covers, stair gate, bed safety rail, potty... phew! There are toys, crayons, dressing-up clothes and books. little extras... There's Nespresso coffee, tea, sugar, tea towels, dishcloths, iron and ironing board, eco-friendly dishwasher tablets, washing-up and laundry liquid, bin bags, cleaning detergents, hand wash, soap, shower gel, organic bubble bath and tissue. A delicious treat of freshly baked scones, Cornish strawberry jam and clotted cream welcomes your arrival. And we'll send you some tips from our favourite things to do and places to eat in the area to get you started. pets... One well-behaved dog is very welcome to join you on holiday, although we do politely ask them to stay downstairs and to keep their paws off the furniture. There is a £50 per-stay fee for your pet. The cottage is always meticulously cleaned and left absolutely fresh and spotless for new guests arriving. parking... You'll find the centre of Fowey lovely and snug so the cottage doesn't have its own designated parking. There is plenty of space to unload by the front door though, where you may also park for short periods, and free onstreet parking spaces nearby, or a weekly permit to park in any of Fowey's and several other car parks in the district, which includes Newquay and St Austell. The water speckled with sails, sandy beaches a pebble's throw and some stunning coastal walks on your doorstep, there's no better place to call your seaside holiday home! RATES: Please check our 'Rates' section below for accurate nightly rates. If booking through TripAdvisor please note that TripAdvisor will add their booking fee to our nightly rates shown here. Guest comments... 'Perfect, no, even better than that...', Jan 2015 Arrived for a weekend away in January with 2 discerning friends. Before we arrived, we received some wonderful tips for things to do in the area which were beautifully written and so the romance began... The cottage was well placed, very near the front and shops/eateries. It was so beautifully furnished and presented we instantly felt relaxed and enjoyed the serenity it offered. We spent a good half hour just walking about saying to each other 'and have you seen this pot/mirror/cupboard/bedlinen - it's gorgeous'. Little touches like fab coffee maker, Cornish Cider stash, bath robes, the pre-loaded ipod made it so lovely we didn't want to go out. My top tips for a Sea Swallow stay: bring enough nibbles/plonk/bread n cheese to keep you going for a few nights, enjoy lazy mornings, lovely walks, fab shops and beachcombing in the day and get back early for a bath, G&T and a read of the paper. In short, Me: 'I wonder if I could send for the children in about a week'; Val 'I'm staying'; Sid 'It's Lush'. Oh, and Fowey's not bad either. 'Fabulous two week stay in this glorious haven!' You have a beautiful house with all the creature comforts we wanted. We would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in Fowey. Perfect position, thoughtful extras, all makes such a difference to the holiday experience. 'Beautiful cottage in a great location Great little cottage right in the heart of Fowey, which is a splendid village on the south coast. There are plenty of things to do, including kayaking up the river and the Eden project and Lost gardens of Heligan are not too far away at all. The cottage itself has 2 big bedrooms and a really well stocked kitchen. Everything was beautifully arranged and the design was top notch. Would definitely recommend visiting Fowey and staying at the Sea Swallow. Tracey is very helpful and provides a great guide to Fowey and the surrounding areas with plenty of handy tips on where to go.' 'Stunning Cottage A beautiful and very comfortable cottage. The cottage was as I had hoped and more. Very clean and well thought out. Great location for the town and walks. Would have no hesitation in staying there again or recommending it to others.' “Lovely cottage in Fowey” Just returned from a lovely weeks stay at the 'Sea Swallow'. The cottage is beautiful and very cosy, equipped with everything you can think of and all of a very high quality. Loved the master bedroom with the window seat and the luxurious bedding. Tracey was really helpful and gave us lots of information about Fowey and the surrounding area. The location if perfect just a short stroll down to the harbour and shops. We had a lovely week and the weather was kind to us. Lots of good restaurants and pubs. Luckily it was warm enough to sit outside as some of the restaurants do not allow dogs inside. The cottage is very cosy with a beautifully equipped kitchen if you want to eat in. We spent quite a lot of time with our dog on Par sands beach which is wonderful for dogs. We hope to visit Fowey again and will certainly stay at 'Sea Swallow' and would definitely recommend it to others. More

About the neighbourhood
A short stroll to sandy beaches, spectacular walks along some of the loveliest heritage coastal paths, kayaking up river for a picnic in the spot that inspired Wind in the Willows, or some truly good food and lovely little shops and galleries. The Sea Swallow is the perfect base for exploring many of Cornwall's wonderful attractions or just tucking yourselves away for a cosy break with everything you need just a pebble's throw away. The Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan, Lanhydrock and the breathtakingly beautiful Bodmin moor are nearby. Cornwall is brim full of wonderful things to do and places to eat and to whet your appetite we will send you plenty of tips from some of our favourites.
Getting around
You could happily enjoy your stay without leaving Fowey as there's plenty to do within walking distance from your cottage. The nearest rail station is around a 10 minute drive away and the line runs from London Paddington to Penzance. There's a local bus service and car hire is easy with companies that will bring the car to you and collect it when you're done if you wish. A car does make visiting Cornwall's treasures further afield much easier.
