Perfect visit.
Yet another perfect visit to Malcolm and Andrea at their unique cottage. We could want for nothing. Supplies already stocked; kitchen fully equipped; beds lovely and comfortable and the pleasure of the hosts to advise and guide. Location was perfect for us as easy to visit Strangford Lough, Belfast and Bangor. Could not heap more praise. Well done and thank you Andrea and Malcolm for making our stay so special.

Beautiful cottage and wonderful hosts!
Once your at the cottage you will forget the bumpy and winding countryside roads en route The cottage is beautiful, very snug and cozy, and it is extremely well equipped. The countryside views from the patio/ terrace are lovely. The hosts met us on arrival and they made us feel at home and very comfortable. We are well travelled and have stayed in many places. We both agree that Orchard Cottage is one of the best stays we have ever had. Thanks to Malcolm & Andrea for everything!

Perfect cottage with great view
On arrival day, the cottage was clean, and the provisions were prefect for us to use. The cottage is in the middle of the countryside, is a perfect location to reach points of interest within 15-20 mins drive. The hospitality of Malcolm and Andrea is excellent, they recommended many attractive walking trails, loads of restaurants to us. Malcolm also gave us an excellent idea to go to Balmoral show by public transport, to avoid the traffic. We were attracted by the stunning view from the balcony, this is one of my best holiday stays, highly recommend.

We with our pets stayed for 10 days. Wonderful well equipped flat. Malcolm went out of his way to make it a memorable experience. On arrival everything was sparkling clean and perfect. If possible we would have liked to stay even longer. Perfect if ever you are in that area looking for a place to stay. you

DELIGHTFUL BIJOU COTTAGE
This bijou accommodation comprises a decent master bedroom, a bathroom with shower & WC, a well-appointed kitchen and a lounge area – with access to a panoramic upper patio area. There is private parking and a lovely garden area to walk around including the orchard and a pond. Whilst our GPS did not take us directly to the property, Malcolm’s excellent instructions were easy to follow to a gated enclave, where he lives, along with another family. We were bowled over by the welcome we got and Andrea’s get-you-in pack had more than we have ever received at any other rental property. The views extend out to Scrabo Tower and the rolling fields offer a sense of being completely in the countryside. Yet we were only 30 mins out of Belfast City Airport and about 10 minutes to both Bangor and Newtownards. On this autumn visit, we particularly enjoyed the small village of Comber, the Wildfowl centre at Castle Espie and walks around the Stormont Estate. The cottage has ample storage for 2 adults and we were able to leave our wet coats by the front door. Further along the corridor is more hanging space, plus a wardrobe in the bedroom, where there was underfloor heating and additional heating vents we could activate to boost, as required. Upstairs, we enjoyed eating at the breakfast bar and the kitchen is very cleverly kitted out with all the saucepans and cooking equipment that we could ever want. There is a cooker, fridge, microwave, small dishwasher, Nespresso machine, kettle etc and lovely crockery and glassware to enjoy. The lounge area, which can be separated by a curtain, has a comfortable armchair + footstool and a sofa. The TV unit houses a myriad of DVDs etc and there is a comprehensive range of local tourist information to peruse. As it was only a short visit we did not need to use the laundry facilities in the cottage. We felt truly cut off from the world, in the nicest possible sense, and it helped us to relax and enjoy our short break. We would highly recommend this venue and we will re-book for sure. Thank you both for welcoming us.

Perfectly calm and romantic countryside cottage
We spent beautiful week in Orchard cottage. Andrea and Malcolm were really helpful and welcoming. Cottage is very-weell equiped and clean, you can find here many kitchen needs and also bathroom needs. Cottage has a beautiful outside seating for morning coffee and relax with stunnign scenery. Many beautiful places and towns just 10 minutes drive away. We felt like home. Fully recommend this accommodation, even for pets. Hopefully we will come back soon.

It was an absolute pleasure to host you both. Glad you were able to see Strangford Lough, Mount Stewart, Portaferry and Belfast in your mini tour of Northern Ireland. Hope the pottery you lovingly painted at Eden pottery made it back safely to Eastern Europe. Look forward to seeing you again perhaps. Best wishes

Amazing !
We had a fabulous relaxing stay in Orchard Cottage. We got pampered by the surrounding tranquillity and soothing views from our balcony. This hidden gem, in the middle of the countryside, is a perfect escape to vanish from a busy lifestyle but still be able to reach your points of interest within 15-20 min drive. Many attractive opportunities for walking and exploring make you wish to extend. Malcolm, the most welcoming and helpful host, and two wagging tails of Charlie and Carla enhanced our fantastic stay to its best.

Thanks Eric. It was an absolute pleasure to host you. We've had a few guests from down under. We don't have Sydney weather but we make up for it in other ways. Hopefully see you both again if you can face the trip. I see that direct flights ( 20 hours) are being introduced in a few months from LHR to Sydney.

Warm & Welcoming
We had the privilige of staying at Orchard cottage for a few days whilst visiting family. Malcolm and Andrea were so welcoming and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The cottage was spotless and everything that you could possibly need for a great stay had been thought of. Would thoroughly recommend and will look forward to staying again on our next visit to Bangor. Thank you once again Malcom and Andrea for making us feel so welcome.

DO NOT RELY ON SAT NAV, PLEASE USE COORDINATES INSTEAD or follow the link to Orchard Cottage supplied by us. The post code only takes you to Kerrs road and a farm on the opposite side of the road. The property is up a farm lane and most people get lost if they do not follow our directions. The drop pin is incorrect. One of the anomalies of rural life Google map suggests an alternative postal code of BT23 8RL. Imperative that the directions below are followed. If you wish the simpliest way -use coordinates in your Google Map 54.6094863, -5.6301914 Or use our link with Google map It is better that you should choose the route through Bangor (not the route through Newtownards) and this takes you directly to the gate in front of Orchard Cottage. The pedestrian gate is always open. FROM BELFAST Coming from Belfast head for Bangor A2. Take the turn off for Rathgael JUST before Bangor. Proceed to end of Rathgael Road. You pass BP garage and Eurospar and various takeaway food outlets and an off license. Turn right at the roundabout heading on the A21 dual carriageway towards Newtownards. Turn left at the first traffic lights, this is the Green Road. Turn right at the end of Green Road and second exit at the roundabout - sign posted for CARROWDORE and miniature railway. Sign says welcome to Six Road Ends. This is the UPPER GRANSHA ROAD. After one mile take the next road on the right which is KERRS ROAD. After half a mile the first concrete lane is on your left and a sign showing PRIVATE No public right of way and another saying Farm watch. Turn left up this concrete lane and pass an old grey farmhouse no 21 and take next lane on the LEFT DO NOT GO STRAIGHT UP THE HILL TO DAIRY FARM! Dead end Keeping left & pass farmhouse no 27 with green agricultural shed and turn left up over the hill. No 29 is the wee clachan of cottages on your right with an old red barn. Stop at the large grey electric sliding gate and press intercom. There is a red post box on the stone wall by the electric sliding gate which displays 29. FROM NEWTOWNARDS Follow signs from Newtownards to Donaghadee A48. Approx 3 miles out of town take right down Kerrs Road, signposted for Gransha Equestrian Centre. After about a mile on bad S bend turn right up the concrete lane. Look out for a post with signs saying PRIVATE No public right of way and another saying Farm watch. Turn up this lane and follow passing no 21 an old grey farm house with outbuildings keeping LEFT at the fork ( DO NOT GO UP HILL TO DAIRY FARM ). Pass farmhouse no 27 and green agricultural shed and turn left up over hill. No 29 is the wee clachan of cottages on your right with an old red barn. Stop at the large grey electric sliding gate and press call button. There is a red post box on the wall with 29 displayed.
