Nice property, great part of Italy to explore
We stayed in the ground floor apartment, which has the advantage of immediate access to the garden and the nice gazebo. This makes it easy to eat al fresco, which we did the whole time. The apartment is very well appointed and extremely clean. Dorothy and her husband Biagio are very welcoming and obliging. Dorothy and her red folder are real fonts of local knowledge, which was very helpful. We hadn't visited this part of Italy before, but we would definitely do so again - there really is a lot to see and do in this region. The town of Fiuggi itself is very nice. The lower town is mainly devoted to the spas, but is interesting to walk around even if you aren't partaking of the waters. The old town (upper part) has some good restaurants. We especially liked La Taverna del Castello. This part of Fiuggi is just about walking distance from Villa Marta, but it is a bit of a trek up the hill. Among the other places we visited (car essential) were nearby Anagni, Isola del Liri with its amazing waterfall in the middle of the town, and the incredible Villa d'Este with its gravity-driven fountains, in Tivoli. The monasteries in Subiaco are also interesting. And of course Rome is easy to visit by train.

Enjoyable, comfortable stay
My nephew and I rented the ground floor property. There was plenty of room to park our car, inside the secure gated access to the property. The rooms were large, comfortable and cool, ideal to come home to after travelling out and about. The kitchen and bathrooms were well equipped with everything you could need, including a hairdryer! All linen was changed during the stay. The garden is very large, with plenty of chairs and loungers to relax on. Biagio and Dorothy take excellent care of the garden and apartments and their generosity, hospitality and kindness is wonderful. We were made to feel very welcome and were grateful for tips about local food and travel. Just wish we could have stayed longer.

Summer Holidays
This is our return visit to Italy and the Villa Marta. The apartment is well equipped and is in a good locale for touring Central Italy - Rome, Pompeii, Monte Cassino and the coast. It is good at the end of a busy day to return to Fiuggi to relax. The owners go out of their way to make you feel welcome and make suggestions about where you can go and visit. Fiuggi unlike staying in Rome or the bigger cities gives you a better flavour of Italy and Fiuggi is an ideal holiday destination for young and old alike. Would highly recommend a stay at the Villa Marta.

PERFECT
The villa had everything to offer to make our stay very comfortable, within range of lots of different places to visit, we traveled by car and of course we were never short of places to travel to, the local services are easily reached, no shortage of places to eat, most of them reasonably priced, of course you have the choice to self cater, the host and hostess were very helpful and always at hand if you needed anything, very easy to travel to Rome by train or bus, approximately 2 hour ride, you can make use of any transport while in Rome all included in the price of your bus or train ticket, 12 Euro per person. The only thing I was disappointed with was the approach road to the villa, a little bit rough, to say the least, otherwise very happy overall.

Great hosts, fine apartment & gardens, good base. Peaceful & Pleasant
We booked the ground floor apartment which was clean, comfortable and well-equipped, with direct access to the lovely garden, pool and gazebo. Perfect spot for enjoying the weather and scenery, but also great base for driving to the many places of interest in the general area, including rail link to Rome. 60-90 mins approx. from airport by car. Dorothy was very helpful with information beforehand and was very welcoming and helpful when we arrived and during our stay. Nice people, nice place.

Very comfortable
We stayed at Villa Marta in early June. The weather was changeable but warm as was Dorothy's welcome. The apartment was on the second floor with great views across the countryside and to the mountains. The apartment was spacious and comfortable and in very good condition. The balcony is quite narrow and is only suitable for a chair so you cannot lie out on it. The Villa Marta is in a residential area and is quite a walk from the town of Fiuggi and there is a steep road up to the villa. It is not suitable to anyone with disablities. The villa is also attached to another house and there is a considerable amount of noise coming from this house particularly early in the morning. There is also a large dog next door who thinks it is a rooster as it starts to bark as soon as the sun rises! All this aside, the warmth of the welocome and the advice Dorothy gave us made up for these minor inconveniences.

Thank you for your comments. We take great care to ensure that our guests spend a pleasant holiday with us but there is always room for improvement. During your stay unfortunately the weather made it impossible for you to enjoy our gazebo and garden where sun loungers and deckchairs are provided. Chairs are provided on the balcony enabling guests to sit in the summer evenings and admire the view. Fortunately we are situated part way up a hill, this position provides us with a lovely view of the distant mountains and the valley below. Villa Marta is one kilometre from the town centre, for this reason on all of our websites and on our reply to enquiries, we mention that 'a car is necessary in this area' Both elderly and people with disabilities have enjoyed their stay in the ground floor apartment which has direct access to our large garden. We are truly sorry that you didn't mention the noise and the barking dog during your stay with us please accept our apologise for this inconvenience. Your complaint has been passed on to our neighbours, their dog has now been removed to another area. Best wishes Dorothy and Biagio

Perfect holiday in Villa Marta!
We (parents and 1,5 year old son) spend 8 days in the beginning of October in Villa Marta in Fiuggi. Distance from Fiumicino airport was very practical and weather was perfect for us. Better than finnish summer. :D Villa Marta was fully equipped (also for our baby), spacious, clean and cosy apartment. Closed garden was very safe environment for children to play. We had great time just enjoying life and hanging out at apartment. Fiuggi itself and surrounding towns were interesting places to visit. Outlet in Valmontone and Rome were also easily reachable. There were nice restaurants, ice-cream bars, pizza take-aways and grocery nearby. Dorothy and Biagio were the most hospitable hosts! We got map in advance so it was very easy to find this location when arriving late at night. We truly felt that we were welcome and if we had anything to ask, they would help us. Thank You, Dorothy and Biagio!

A great base for exploring Lazio and beyond
A lovely, private apartment with great garden in the pleasant town of Fiuggi. The owner could not have been more helpful and accommodating. We used it as a base to explore Rome (an easy drive and train journey away - and great to return to the calm and space at the end of the day), Tivoli (Villa adriana a must) but also very much enjoyed the local hill towns, which were a great surprise. Fiuggi is a pleasant town with good local restaurants and some excellent ice cream! Nearby Fumone offers great views, a quaint environment and an unusual restaurant experience - ask Dorothy for the recommendation! Anzio and Monte Cassino are both easily accessible for the history buff, Anagni and Subiaco for those in search of religious sights. A car is pretty much a necessity, but you might just get away with it if you fly into Ciampino (the train runs direct from there) and just want a chill out week with a few trips into Rome.

A comfortable stay at a great home in Fiuggi
The house is situated in a very good location where the old town and new town are just a few minutes away. The view from Villa Marta is spectacular and it's especially enjoyable sitting in the garden in the gazebo, just by the house. The house was very clean and the bedrooms were comfortable. The owners of this home were kind and helpful and offered a lot of useful advice on the sort of things that might be interesting to visit locally. I recommend this to anyone staying in in Fiuggi a week or two as there is so much to do!

great place for relaxing stay
we had great time at villa marta. we stayed during 1 week in august with our 14 month old daughter. Appartment is fully equiped & clean and the view on hills is fabulous. Dorothy (the owner) is very welcoming and helpful. She recommended us on our surrounding visits, lent of the equipment and the toys for our daughter and generously offered to us some vegetables of her garden. Fiuggi is great place a very calm city. it's well located between Roma and Napoli, 1 hour far from beaches (teraccina and sperlonga). the garden is perfect for kids: plunge pools, balloons, swings, etc... definitively the best relaxing place we ever had.
