Barnes Cottage is located in the heart of beautiful rural Dorset in the peaceful hamlet of Woolland. The cottage is an outstanding conversion of a traditionally built barn in a courtyard setting. Named after the well known Dorset writer, the cottage has been lovingly restored to provide superbly equipped, comfortable, tastefully furnished, year-round, single storey self catering accommodation for the less-abled,their families,friends and carers. Barnes Cottage will sleep up to four guests in comfortable single beds. The Cottage is double glazed and has full central heating for year round comfort. An indoor heated splash pool has wide steps with handrails for easy access, a pool hoist for the less-abled, for use with guests own sling/harness, and a poolside seating area. There are fully accessible changing rooms with showers and toilets. Regrettably we generally do not allow pets. Only assistance dogs are allowed by prior arrangement. All of our guests enjoy the peace and quiet the rural setting of our accommodation provides. Therefore we cannot allow parties or loud music.

Great hosts. Beautiful cottage and gardens. Relaxing and peaceful. Well equipped cottage. Very comfortable especially beds. Ten out of ten.

About the neighbourhood
Woolland is in an area of outstanding natural beauty in North Dorset, with its picturesque villages,gentle rolling down land, woodlands and nature reserves, crossed by winding lanes, rivers and streams. The beautiful Georgian market town of Blandford, county town of Dorchester and Sherborne are a short drive away. Within easy reach is the Isle of Purbeck and Dorset's Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage Site. For literary enthusiasts there is the birthplace of Thomas Hardy. Good food is a priority in Dorset and delicious local produce can be be found at farmers' markets, farm shops and in restaurants and pubs.
Getting around
The local lanes are a bit windy but take you through some stunning countryside. There are lots of passing places! We recommend you pick up some groceries on your way to us.
