Feel like getting away from it all? Treat yourselves to a midweek or weekend break in the beautiful Usk valley. Stay for a week or more and not only enjoy the magnificent views but visit the many castles and attractions in the area. First built in c1800 the former forestry workers cottage nestles amongst the trees enhancing the peace and tranquillity of the country side, at the same time overlooking the delightful valley leading to the village of Coed-y-Paen. Pets are welcome by prior arrangement and clay pigeon shooting is available in the cottage grounds. The hot tub situated in the grounds behind the cottage can be used by guests for up to an hour a day. Weekend break

What a lovely cottage in a beautiful setting. Owner Janet was lovely and had lit the log burner for us. Hot tub was great. Will definitely go back for a stay.

About the neighbourhood
The village of Coed-y-Paen doesn’t have any shops but it does have a great pub and sitting proudly outside the ancient church is our library contained in the red phone box! There are three local golf courses to enjoy and the reservoir is within walking distance. Boating and fishing is available as well as wonderful walking. Day fishing licences can be bought in the local shops in Usk for fly fishing as the river is famous for it’s salmon. If you fancy trying clay pigeon shooting, we have the facilities within our grounds with all the equipment required. One on one instruction is given by Mike who is an experienced competition clay pigeon shooter and instructor. Dogs are welcome with prior arrangement.
How to get there
FROM M4 HEADING WEST: take the exit at junction 24 heading towards Monmouth. Take the 5th exit on A449 for 8 miles and turn off at the exit to Usk. Go through Usk, over the bridge and turn left. After 1/2 mile turn right heading to Coed-y-Paen. After 1mile turn left at the Y junction and carry on for one and a half miles. If using a satnav don’t stop at Old Oak Barn but go straight past and take the next turning on the left, 200 yards. After 50 yards turn right down a small lane which will bring you to the gates leading up to the cottage. The gates are next to TyPerrott Cottage on your left.
