An excellent dog-friendly chapel. Well positioned to visit Hexham and Corbridge. Beautiful surrounding walks. Accommodation is very comfortable with ground floor facilities for those less able visitors. Highly recommended.

We stayed at Finechambers Chapel over Christmas 2019. The chapel is a beautiful, relaxing and cosy space, very well equipped with everything you might need for a comfortable stay. It is situated off the beaten track and yet still within a few miles of the lovely market town of Hexham. Excellent walks right from the doorl. The chapel was simply but beautifully decorated for Christmas, and the hosts Catherine and David made us most welcome. The accessible lower bedroom and shower room were particularly welcome for our party. I would not hesitate to recommend Finechambers Chapel for a restful holiday or short break.

Finechambers Chapel is an unusual but very comfortable place to stay. It is stylish without being fussy and we felt very at home straight away. The house is very well equipped, the kitchen has everything you could need. I really appreciated the fact that there was soap, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets and toilet roll as these things are so often not included in holiday rentals. The beds were extremely comfortable and the log burner kept us warm in the evenings. The porch was particularly good for storing our boots out of the way. The two bathrooms mean you can treat downstairs as an en suite; the mezzanine and back bedroom are a good set up for families with younger children. Finechambers is in a very peaceful location (a good pub is the Travellers Rest within walking distance via footpaths). It’s only ten minutes outside Hexham but feels much more remote. It’s a great base for visiting all the Roman sites, as well as being an hour from some spectacular coastal walks. The chapel garden is lovely to sit out in and the surrounding paddocks and gardens add to the whole sense of peace and quiet. Our children made good use of the trampoline and loved the ponies, dog and collecting eggs from the chickens. Catherine is a very generous host, she left us homemade cakes and fresh eggs on arrival which was a pleasant surprise and gave us more eggs during our stay. She was very helpful and it was good to know she was nearby if we had needed anything. We had a lovely holiday and staying in this interesting house was a big part of it!

Thank you so much for your thoughtful and very positive review Kathryn. I appreciate your having mentioned so many aspects of Finechambers. It was a delight to meet your family and I enjoyed introducing your delightful girls to the hens, ponies and Dudley the Springador, (who enjoyed ball games!)

We live in Newcastle and wanted a few days to get away from it all, so we booked fine chamber chapel. It is the perfect peaceful retreat. Quaint, clean and very well equipped. We arrived to a blazing log burner and home made cake. Surrounded by countryside, horses, chickens and sheep, and lovely walks from the door. Perfect! Dog friendly too. 15 minutes from Hexham and Corbridge for shops/pubs/restaurants. I would thoroughly recommend this property for a beautiful peaceful break.

Just returned from a weeks stay at The Chapel. It's so nice. Very well equipped, spacious, comfortable and tastefully decorated. Thank you for the lovely chocolate cake, flap jacks and flowers on our arrival, lovely touch. The surrounding countryside is beautiful. The peace and quiet amazing, literally the only noise you get are chickens, sheep and the horse, so nice, loved it when the chickens all came to visit when we were sitting in the garden. Can't fault a thing. Would highly recommend. Thank you Catherine, we had a great holiday.

We went to Finechambers for my Mother-in-law birthday. It is a lovely place to stay and enjoy the Northumberland countryside. It's comfortable, spacious, well equiped with everything you need to plan your days out. The log burner was an excellent feature and perfect for cosy evenings in. The ground floor bedroom and bathroom really helped with our Nana who doesnt do well on stairs. There were lots of places near by to walk our dog in the mornings as well as being only a short drive in to Hexham and Corbridge Thanks Catherine for the chocolate cake and the flapjacks were the best.

Thanks so much for your review Alex. It was a cold and snowy scene at Finechambers but I’m pleased the new heaters and wood burner helped to make it an enjoyable stay.

Our family met up at Finechambers to spend New Year together & we weren't disappointed. The renovated Chapel has lots of character, is spacious, well equipped with lovely furnishings and the bedrooms are all good sizes. It was pretty cold while we were there but the wood burner & radiators kept it all nice & cosy. Its in a lovely country spot, very peaceful & quiet and we just had a lovely time there. Thanks Catherine for the lemon cake and flapjacks - they didn't last long!!

Delighted you had a fun family get together at Finechambers. It’s always fun decorating the chapel for Christmas and New Year, and glad it was warm and cosy despite the low winter temperatures.

About the neighbourhood
Scenic pastoral landscape surrounding the chapel with open moorland a few miles away deeper into Hexhamshire, with outstanding walks or mountain bike trails over to Blanchland or Allendale. The Northumberland coast is outstanding with long sandy beaches. Both Hexham and Corbridge have good restaurants, and there are two good pubs within a couple of miles of the chapel.
