Scregg Cottage is a Lovingly restored 250yr old Stone Cottage on a small working farm nestled under the Sliabh an Iarainn Mountains, on the Roscommon/Leitrim Borders. Our peaceful setting at the end of a lane means you can't hear a car yet we are only 2 miles from the bustling market town of Carrick on Shannon with it's first class facilities and great pubs and restaurants. The kitchen is fully equipped with an electric cooker with grill, microwave, toaster, etc. The cottage is accessed by a private drive and has plenty of parking. Children are welcome although we advise we do have a stream and pond (with Ducks!) on the property. We also have horses, Jacob sheep, chickens, ducks and a dog and cat. There is so much to do in the area from walking the Arigna Way, exploring the wonderful Lough Key Forest Park, taking a boat out on the Shannon River, discovering megalithic tombs, Fishing in some of the 41 local loughs or simply taking it easy. The choice is yours.More

About the neighbourhood
Carrick on Shannon is the local town to Scregg Cottage and it has a wonderful almost continental feel to it in the summer - with every body outside and the boats busy on the Shannon. There are great pubs and restaurants - particularly well thought of is The Oarsman which is well decorated with awards for its food and ambience. There is The Dock which is a busy arts centre and has stunning local arts in it's gallery and first class performances in the theatre. The country side in this part of Ireland is majestic - tranquil loughs with mountains rising out of them, soft hills dotted with cattle and sheep, and breath taking coast lines boasting sandy beaches that stretch for miles and some of the best surf in the world. Getting around
A car is probably best as we are a couple of miles from town but there are trains and busses regularly to and from Dublin and Sligo from the town.
