Our 2nd stay in this lovely cottage in the most beautiful surroundings. On arrival, met by Carnel & Brian who have again excelled themselves with their warm welcome, treats for the children & lovely homemade bread and stocked fridge! Wonderful beach & homely cottage, just can't recommend enough.

Had a wonderful time in Ireland staying in The Thatch near Maghera beach, Ardara. Our hosts, Carmel and Brian gave us a lovely welcome and had left some provisions for us without charge. The cottage is warm, welcoming and spotless with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Maghera beach is a few minutes walk away-one of the most beautiful places we have ever visited. We will return 😄

From the moment we arrived we loved this little cottage. Myself, my wife and our three children throughly enjoyed our stay here. The cottage is perfectly located close to maghera beach and caves and just a few hundred metres from the waterfall. Inside the decor is great and the beds are so comfortable. We spend most days adventuring so a comfy bed at the end of the day was amazing. This is pur first stay here but will definitely not be our last!

This cottage is in a fabulous location, just a few minutes walk from one of the best beaches in Ireland and close to lots of good walking. Also the caves at the beach are a great location for photography. You could get lost in time with your camera here. Carmel and Brian, the hosts, were there when we arrived and give us a very warm welcome and left us a very generous starter pack which included amongst other things, lovely home made bread . The cottage itself is warm, really cosy and very well equipped. Everything is immaculate. We had a truly enjoyable weekend although the weather was wet and windy it did not stop us enjoying ourselves.

Ardara is a beautiful village the people are friendly and the owners Brian and Carmel were so kind and helpful and always available if we needed anything. We enjoyed the beautiful Maghera caves and beach on our door step with wonderful views from the thatched cottage. Days out visiting the highest cliffs in europe Slieve League and a boat across to Aaronmore Island. Driving around the Bluestack Mountains & Wild Atlantic Way is breathtaking with a visit to Killybegs and Donegal Town Castle. it may be a small castle but full of interesting history. The Ardara show and Irish dancing on the street was also a treat for us and the kids. Definitely worth a visit I will be returning xx Annie Peter and girls xx

We had a fantastic stay at The Thatch. Carmel and Brian are wonderful hosts nothing to much even when we managed to lock ourselves out on first day. The cottage has everything you need and more. Is spotless. Alot bigger than expected. 5 minutes walk to lovely beach, lovely views, great size garden very child friendly. The town is 10 minute drive away with everything you need shops pubs. Can't wait to return.

We stayed for a week in this comfortable cottage outside Ardara and particularly enjoyed the stunning location. It’s just 2 mins from a spectacular beach, and there are loads of good walks and other places of interest in the area. There’s plenty of space, inside and outside and the owners were very welcoming and helpful. It’s in a small hamlet with no shops or bar so you do need a car to get into town 9km away and the road is narrow and quite twisty, so a late night out might mean cabs if you’re not happy to drive it at night, or you want to drink.

This cottage is a little gem, nestled at the foot of stunning mountains with a spectacular beach just a few minutes' walk away. The nearby waterfall is stunning, and the closest town of Ardara has something to offer everyone. The cottage itself is warm, cosy and beautifully equipped. Everything is immaculate, and the garden would have been used so much more if it hadn't been for the late August rain, but you take your chances with the weather in Donegal! A warm welcome and even some home-made bread was presented on our arrival, which set the tone for a beautiful short break. We'll definitely be booking again.
