Stunning view, a home away from home, very well equipped with every convenience.
We stayed at Aimeo Cottage over Easter, 2015 and loved it! The view was amazing, and so relaxing it was difficult to leave. The cottage is perfectly positioned to explore the beautiful Bay of Islands and we loved coming back to it after a busy day out. The cottage is extremely well equipped, having everything we needed, and Annie looked after us so well. We have already booked again for next year!

Stunning Views and fully equipped cottage
The cottage is set in a beautiful location with outstanding views over the bay of islands. Conveniently situated close to the car ferry to Opua and 8km to Russell which is a very interesting and attractive holiday resort.

Best Christmas Relaxation Retreat Ever!
Amieo Cottage is a real home from home and Annie is a wonderful host. The view from everywhere is beautiful and the little beach secluded and quiet. Everything you need is here and the cottage is spacious and charming. The local walks are really good and beaches stunning. Russell is a charming town with good eateries. There's plenty to do and see. Thoroughly recommended.

Wonderful place
We had both bedrooms, and effectively the whole house. Large balcony with lovely views of the Bay Of Islands. Large comfortable lounge. Short drive to Russell. Close to ferry for Paihia and Waitangi (treaty house).

A Bit of Paradise
Aimeo Cottage was such a surprise. We had booked it several months in advance along with a number of other places for our two months of travel in New Zealand. It sounded pleasant, but we weren't prepared for how spectacular a house it really is. The view of the bay is breathtaking and the house itself as everything you could imagine wanting in a vacation home. The sheets are lovely, the kitchen has everything you have at home and the heat pump makes mornings cozy. Annie makes it beautiful with her kindness and great gardening skills plus her bread is outstanding. Sorry for gushing, but Aimeo Cottage is a gem!

Dear Joanne, thank you for the review of Aimeo Cottage. I am happy if guests are happy. Thank you for coming to New Zealand and seeing our loveley country. I hope every thing is well with you. Here we are enjoying summer days, but still cool nights, flowers evey where and finaly enough rain to fill our water tanks for the summer. All the best to you, kind regards. Annie

Complete delight - quality, comfort, great location, views & garden
Aimeo cottage is a complete delight. We snuck here for a week’s pre-Christmas break and were blown away. This is a solidly built, comfortable, quality holiday home & we will certainly return here. We booked with Annie, the owner, who was extremely efficient, helpful, accommodating and friendly. She also bakes awesome bread! We had exclusive use of the property for the week - although this spot would be good for families sharing with friends, as there is a studio unit on the garden-level, which had the same quality and comfort as the main house. We were looking for a private spot with great views and easy access to the water. We found this and more in a clean, very well equipped & maintained holiday home: Parking on a private driveway only a few minutes from the ferry, ( no- there was no noise ferry at the house) - this enchanting cottage greets you with an exquisitely tended, sun-drenched garden – a lovely spot with solid wood garden set & umbrella inviting you to stop, yet the flowered path beckons you closer toward the house, past a selection of herbs, up a step to a welcoming entrance & into a great open plan layout : kitchen, to dining to lounge and spilling out onto wrap-around deck with superb views over the waters of the Bay of Islands. The hints of sailing around the world are seen in the furnishing and the place has a sense of exotic travels. A very comfortable bed with clean linens, meant waking well-rested to warm sunlight streaming in, taking tea and breakfast on the deck, followed by a stroll to the nearby beach or planning various day trips (all must-do!) on the Phantom sailing yacht, a fishing trip, lazy stop at the nearby Winery, a few Long Beach wave-frolicking hours, even a drive to a local secret surf beach, off the beaten–track, meant we were happy to be home for late-afternoon naps, sundowners and taking in the awesome views over Russell. A well-equipped kitchen & clean BBQ meant we were able to prepare all manner of suppers from local fare in Annie’s kitchen, which we enjoyed on the fabulous long dining table in the cozy warmth on cool evenings. We think fondly of this holiday and hope to return to recharge our spirits in this gem again this year.

A comfortable vacation rental with stunning panoramic views
My Wife and I stayed for 6 weeks over Jan/Feb 2013. Situated in an elevated position, this comfortable property, offers stunning panoramic views across the Bay of Islands from a large veranda which runs around two sides of the property. There is a well tended, well stocked, garden surrounding the property. With the Veranda and the Garden there is ample opportunity to find yourself a comfy shady spot protected from the excesses of sun and wind any time of day. The property has a large room which forms a common lounge/dining and cooking area. This room has large windows on two sides which enjoy panoramic views across the bay of islands, there are two large sliding doors which lead out onto the elevated veranda. The Double Bedrooms are fairly large and the bed was comfortable. There are two bath/shower rooms, the master one was particularly spacious and well equipped. There is a further studio apartment beneath the main accommodation which the owner advised that she would not let out whilst we were in residence for our long duration stay. (A thoughtful touch by the owner to give us total privacy which we really appreciated). There is a good parking area at the front of the property. The Cottage is situated in Okiato, a collection of residential properties about 9km from Russell. Russell is a charming historic township. Paihia, a short ferry crossing away, is more lively with larger hotels, shops and a very good supermarket. The surrounding areas are scenic and there are many things to see and do, but a car essential to get the most from the area. There are two good beaches within easy walking distance, but the are many many more a short car drive away, most are deserted. Beach, boat and deep sea fishing are all here. The owner, Annie Horman is a delight, ever cheerful she could not do enough for us. Her emailed communications were always prompt and helpful when we were booking. She was waiting on the doorstep to greet us on arrival, she took pains to fully explain the property and the surroundings to ensure that we would be comfortable in her house and get the most from our vacation experience. We would certainly consider staying at Aimeo Cottage again should we revisit the Bay of Islands in future.

Great holiday stay!
We had a wonderful stay in aimeo Cottage, Annie was very welcoming and helpful, and provided advice on things to do and places to go. The cottage has amazing views, a sundowner on the deck is the best ever! The cottage is very clean and comfortable, we stayed for 5 days and wished we could have stayed longer. The location was great too, close enough to be easily accessible and not noisy at all. The best is the wonderful view from most rooms, especially from the deck,it is magnificent.
