This was as advertised, there were no unexpected surprises. The landlord's father was wonderful and very accommodating. The apartment was perfect for our needs. Air conditioning and laundry facilities was a necessity and it had both. There's no dryer, but there are drying racks and our clothes dried overnight even with the a/c on. The instructions emailed to us for the taxi driver, including the landlord's phone #, worked. It was great that the driver could call the landlord once he got close since he and us, didn't know which apartment was the right one (and we chose not to switch our phones to an int'l plan/SIM card). He met us on the sidewalk. We also gave the same information to our tour guide who came to take us to the Forbidden City and Great Wall.
The subway was convenient. So was the large WalMart-type store, CarreFour. Lots of restaurants and a bakery within a three-block radius. Everything is in Chinese, so we relied a lot on pictures and/or pointing/hand...
