We were lucky enough to book a 5 nights stay here over Christmas, when we came to spend time with our families who live in close vicinity. Being originally from Saddleworth, I felt very fortunate to have found such a beautiful place to stay, especially given that we could bring our dog with us too (lots of lovely doggy walks close by, including a wonderful quiet bridle path). The place upon arrival was spotlessly clean, and if you are not a doggy person you would not think that this place had accommodated dogs in the past - there was absolutely no trace of previous furry friends staying here! (I am aware some people think cottages that accommodate dogs can be somewhat substandard at times, compared to cottages that don't - rest assured this cottage is furnished and cleaned to a high standard).
The location is fantastic, situated just on the outskirts of Uppermill in a lovely rural area. Walking into Uppermill took a short 5 minute downhill stroll, and the village has some fabulous shops, pubs and restaurants alongside many scenic walks including along the canal.
Pots and Pans Cottage is exceptionally well equipped, with a fabulously large cosy rustic kitchen including a superb range cooker. Throughout, the cottage is furnished with a beautiful eclectic mix of artifacts and pictures clearly representing the owners love of travelling. We considered it also very quirky too, given it is such an old building with lots of history and the layout is such too.
As it was Christmas, the cottage was also decorated to a very high standard for the festive season; even including a real Christmas tree in the lounge. The lounge warm and cosy, with a wonderful log burner for guests to use. It was also nice to arrive to find milk, tea, coffee etc left for us, as well as a wonderful selection of wines to drink (honesty box provided). There was a great coffee machine provided too.
Communication between host and ourselves was exceptional, with us even receiving a Christmas card posted to us from them in France! How thoughtful.
There is an amazing Guest Information book in the cottage, that explains everything in detail and has ideas on things to do, places to visit etc. Nothing was missed out.
We could not have asked for more, and overall were delighted with our stay.
There was just one minor thing that we have since raised with the host after we left and that was in light of there being very little wardrobe space - for most, this would not be an issue as there are drawers to put clothing in. But, given it was the festive season we had brought clothes such as party dresses etc that needed hanging up. This is something we now feel the host will act on, as he is keen for ways of improving the cottage all the time to enable future guests to have the best stay they can.
Overall, we would not hesitate to return again and would highly recommend. You won't be disappointed. 5*
