Cozy cabin on a hill, very quiet at night. Has all amenities, small fridge, microwave, coffee maker and BBQ. There was a bottle of Opolo wine wating on the table when we got there, zero complaints about that! Everything clean and well stocked. Nice to have spices and foil so you don't have to buy that for a 3 day visit We were grateful for the A/C as it gets hot in July! There is no TV, but has wifi and a stereo for music. There is also a small building to the side that is a saloon! No A/C, but we drank some wine we brought and played cards and didn't care. Our last night, Wally the dog came to visit and hung out with us for a while.

Oakdale Ranch is just plain cool: totally unique, totally out of the ordinary, a trip back in time! Hidden in the trees on top of a hill gives you peaceful quiet and solitude while still within a mile or two of several major wineries for tasting and visiting. Driving up the approximately half-mile road to the cabin is cool: sets the mood for being WAY out in the country somewhere. Seeing the cabin then transports you back in time. Almost all the amenities are there, though. Shower, coffe maker with plenty of provided coffee and filters and cups, bathtub, wifi, microwave, A/C, even a nice bottle of Opolo Wine waiting for us. Ms Wally and Lulu, the two dogs, are the welcoming committee and there as good as any human could ever be at giving you a wonderful welcome! The only thing missing was a TV and I even thought about making this review four stars because of that omission but I just couldn't do it. This is a five-star place even without the TV. The only other suggestion I might add for the owners is to have some kind of bar for balance if a person decides to take a shower. I can see where someone could easily get off balance and there's nothing real solid to grab onto to stabilize oneself if that happens. Check out our pics: you can just spend time at the Ranch and have a fantastic, relaxing time. Or ... you can visit some of the best wineries in Paso Robles within just a couple minutes' drive: Croad, Niner, Peachy Canyon, Red Soles, Zenaida ... and many, many more.

This is such a wonderful place to stay. We had a great time here! The place was quiet, beautiful and romantic. We walked to 2 wineries so we could drink and leave the car but I think you could walk to about 5 from here. One winery had live music on so we stayed there most of the afternoon. I'd recommend buying food in from the store, having breakfast outside the cabin, packing a picnic and go walking around the wineries. Most have really beautiful picnic areas, then you can try lots of wine without the hassle of the car. In the evening we sat outside, had a bbq and drank wine :-) There are deer running around the fields and Crystal was so very helpful! She sent an email with everything we could possibly need to know before we got there. Other little things were really nice like leaving flash lights for us to use and a lovely bottle of red wine on the table. The only thing I'd mention (which is tiny compared with the amazing time we had!) is that it would have been 110% perfect if it was a little cleaner around the bathroom and kitchen. It's obviously a bit dated/rustic and there were no clean sponges left for us to do the washing up with. However please don't put you off! I am already recommending friends to stay here! I am very glad we did as it was great to 'get away from it all' for a few days on our West Coast trip. I would definitely stay here again.

We had an amazing two night stay at the guesthouse and did not want to leave! The guesthouse is a well appointed studio, with everything you need and without stuff you don't need (TV). The saloon is close to the guesthouse and serves as a great place to eat dinner and have drinks into the evening (if it is too chilly on the deck). The rest of our time was spent on the deck or down the hillside in the two adirondack chairs watching the hawks fly overhead. There are at least four or five wineries within walking distance (even though we only made it to two). This property is well maintained, quiet, private, and an overall great find. We will definitely be back.

my best friend and i stayed here for a wine country getaway; i had previously traveled to the area, but she had not. nonetheless, we really appreciated crystal's "insider scoop" recommendations. my friend and i also appreciated the rustic setting and charm, including the sweet dogs on the property and the coyotes and wild turkeys (!!!) squawking about in the woods out back. the only negative was that we found the bathroom and kitchen to be a little grody, and thus, the property priced a little high.

We would love to respond to the comment about the kitchen and bath. We have been listing this property for over 2 years and this is the first comment of this type we have received. Our reviews on other sites have been 5 stars for cleanliness. The bathroom and kitchen floor were redone along with the claw foot tub being refinished in June 2010. The only thing we can think of is that at the time this guest stayed we had a different toilet that had some hard water stains (we have hard water and it can to leave a mineral residue) It has since been replaced. We also have a maid and it is a possibility that maybe the cabin was not cleaned as well as usual? We really don't know as we have not gotten clarification from this guest to the specifics of the problem. It is important to us that our guests enjoy their stay and leave feeling like the cabin is a good value. Guest feedback helps us improve.

This is a unique place. Small, cozy, secluded and quiet. If you're looking to get away from it all, it's perfect. It's not luxurious, but it's clean, affordable and absolutely charming.

A great little hideaway! Nothing frilly but that is the charm of it all. So quiet and not a soul in sight!! A welcome treat for urban overload. Crystal was so helpful with recommendations of places to visit and dine. Pono and LuLu were our best buddies! Will definately stay againThanks!!
