This is a beautiful cabin a short distance from a beautiful beach up a private road, surrounded by lush forest. The photos and description are accurate. The location can't be beat. It was very clean. The price, to us, was appropriate to the amenities. The owner is attentive, lives nearby, and has clearly responded to years of reviews and suggestions. It exceeded our expectations; our kids loved it.
The kitchen was great. Yes, it is a bit small. But two people could cook in it. This kitchen is very well-appointed for a rental. Unless I missed it, there is no sous vide, but it has everything you need for making a nice meal. There were some spices, condiments, a few staples like flour. The knives were razor sharp--a sign of regular attention.
A couple of thoughts based on other reviews. This is a cabin in rural Humboldt County. I'm not surprised to hear that some in the area prefer to be left alone. Neighbors nodded or waved at our family when we drove by. For people tucked up into the woods, they seemed tolerant of a nearby rental and a car driving back and forth, crammed to the hilt with kids and stuff and sporting out-of-state plates. Also, this a very nice cabin, but... it's a cabin. It is heated by wood. We appreciated the ridiculous amount of kindling and fire supplies. Although charming, I was reminded on night five of just how much work it is to heat a home with wood. I forgot my axe, and my wife laughed at me for saying so. But thankfully, the axe wasn't necessary. Anyway, I'm glad I was not the one splitting all these logs or filling the containers full of tiny kindling. I would probably have given myself a splinter, even though I have a beard.
The only suggestion I can think to make is that the back yard could really use a hand-built, Finnish-style, wood-fired sauna--this would be nestled neatly into the hillside, like an illustration from an old picture-book version of The Hobbit. Other than that, this cabin had every detail we could possibly dream of.
