Holiday Rental House
Colin and Ruth would like to welcome you to our friendly accommodation located in Plusquellec in the heart of Brittany France. One hour from the port of Roscoff or two hours from St Malo. Little used beaches are thirty minutes away. What was, we believe, an old cart house is a charming, recently renovated cottage in the centre of the village with bar and restaurant. The original entrance can still be seen in the lounge and a log burning stove with its new chimney has replaced the original. We live nearby and the cottage adjoins a small studio at rear, used for their family or friends. Beautiful high beamed living room with cosy lounge area (woodburner, tv/dvd with English channels only) and fitted kitchen/dining area (m/wave). There is a narrow conservatory with seating and coffee table....Colin and Ruth would like to welcome you to our friendly accommodation located in Plusquellec in the heart of Brittany France. Open tread spiral stairs to attic mezzanine with 2nd lounge and a telescope for star gazing at the clear night sky. Electric heaters. Garage. Garden at side of property with patio, furniture & bbq. Small chicken house at the end of the garden. Carhaix is well known for its large music festival which is held in mid July. A small village but fully equipped with a bar/restaurant - and only a 5 minute drive from the bigger village of Callac (which we loved - sitting out in the main square, watching the world go by). No WIFI in the gite - but who...More

About the neighbourhood
Set in the heart of the quiet village of Plusquellec with nearby restaurant/bar. Not far from Carhaix, famous for its Vieilles Charrues festival and the village of Carnoët. Around 1500 years ago, priests and monks coming from Great Britain landed on the coast of Brittany. Some, like Malo or Brieuc, have left their mark on the region. In the village of Carnoët, sculptors have created giant four-metre high granite statues of saints and placed them on a feudal mound with views stretching out as far as the Monts d'Arrée mountains. In 2015, there were already around fifty statues. Guided tours are organised every day, and in June and September, you can also see the sculptors at work.
Getting around
Whilst Plusquellec is by no means remote public transport is limited (a bus will come to the village but it must be booked in advance). However, for those arriving on foot or by bicycle, who may wish to explore the many beautiful walks and lanes around the village and area, there is a regular train service which stops at Callac and Carhaix plus request stops in between. We will be happy to arrange transfers from the railway station, airport or ferry. Please contact us for details. For guests with their own car, motorcycle or bicycle there are perfect roads and places to explore around Plusquellec.
