Vanguard is one of two holiday cottages available at the lighthouse, which lies on the East Coast just outside Whitby and close to the North Yorkshire Moors. The High Cliffs of the North Yorkshire coast hide a number of small ports, the most significant of which is Whitby. Captain James Cook was apprenticed to a Whitby shipowner and made the first of his voyages of discovery (*********) in a covered Whitby built 'cat' - a small ship rigged collier renamed 'Endeavour'. What an amazing place to stay, the cliff edge is a stones throw from the cottage, the panoramic view is fantastic. The cottage is cosy and maintained to a very high standard. A 30 minute walk along the spectacular coastal path takes you past Whitby...More
