*Now with its own hot tub* One of just four stunning contemporary, eco lodges, decorated and designed to a high standard, we think you will find everything you need for a relaxing getaway at Upthorpe Lodges. For when you're eating in, the well-equipped kitchen will keep a creative cook happy, with dining area alongside. It will be no surprise that there's a fridge and a microwave, but there's also a full size freezer for your ice cream and more, plus a conventional oven for your Sunday roast. The stylish furniture has been carefully selected to provide comfort and relaxation, and on sunny days you'll want to roll back the doors and let the outside in. Sun loungers and outdoor dining table allow you to make the most of the daytime sun and the garden area is lit for evening use too. Sun loungers and outdoor dining table allow you to make the most of the daytime sun and the garden area is lit for evening use too. All four lodges at Upthorpe Lodges include their own luxury hot tub, in their own private gardens. Perfect for relaxation but with plenty of local attractions, this contemporary five-star (applied for) lodge, appears in a country garden setting amidst the Suffolk countryside, at the heart of East Anglia. Close to the villages of Stanton and Walsham-le-Willows our location is ideal for exploring the Norfolk and Suffolk countryside, its villages and market towns. The unspoilt coastline is within an hour's drive, and coastal towns such as Wells, Cromer, Southwold and Aldeburgh make pleasant tours. The historic cities and cultural centres of Cambridge and Norwich are an easy drive away. Oak Lodge is in its own privately enclosed garden. We have three other lodges on this small exclusive setting, and group bookings can be made. Please contact owner for details.More

Our 4th visit to the Lodges, Our first stay in Oak. As always, another amazing stay! We were celebrating Yo's special birthday & our anniversary. Oak Lodge is just as well equipped & tastefully decorated as her sister lodges, Ian & Debbie should be very proud. We always say the "Little touches" are what we love most about visiting Upthorpe & again there were Welcome Goodies including my favourite jam! Had the most relaxing weekend & enjoyed the hot tub as always, can't beat an early morning dip. Can't wait to revisit in May!! Gary & Yo

The lodge is set in its own secluded setting, and has all the top notch facilities you require. Very well laid out and decorated to a very high standard. Debbie and Ian are available to assist with help should you need it. A lovely welcome basket on arrival and a welcome letter (Hand Written) Personal touch. Lots of attractions to visit, Cambridge, Norfolk and Bury St Edmunds and on return to the lodge to unwind from all the walking a spell in the hot tub is worth having at the end of the day. Definitely the place to go back and stay. An enjoyable 4 weeks.

Oak Lodge near Stanton in sunny Suffolk was the perfect place to base ourselves for a few days in Suffolk. Spotlessly clean with every modern amenity, it was also private and very quiet. The front garden with large timber deck was also appreciated as a sunny spot for a quiet drink. Handy to the local pub and shop, with plenty of parking, Oak Lodge was a great start to our 7 week EnglandWales/Europe holiday. Thanks for welcoming us and making us feel right at home. Ellen and ken

Great to hear you found everything to your liking. We're lucky that Suffolk is one of the sunniest counties in the UK of course! Hope the rest of your grand tour was everything you wanted it to be.

Wow! Oak lodge is breath taking in its own private garden, on arrival a short walk from the car park, beautiful surroundings and peacefully quiet, didn't hear anything from the other lodges even though they were all booked. A lovely welcome note and treats awaited such a lovely personal touch, with a really informative folder of local amenities! I was looking for a last minute retreat for rest and relaxation and that is exactly what was achieved; very much a home from home feel with a good supply of books and dvd's to watch, if needed. Stanton is situated 30min drive to bury st Edmunds and plenty of information of other interests and things to do locally. I will definitely be returning!

We had another excellent stay at Oak Lodge this Bank Holiday, this time our friends came too and stayed next door in Cedar Lodge, which has a hot tub. We had a thoroughly lovely time, the weather was great, we cycled to the next village for lunch in the Blue Boar which I would highly recommend and also had dinner one evening in the Six Bells in Bardwell, again excellent food and a friendly landlord who gave us a lift home!! Ian and Debbie have done a great job with these lodges, they are building two new ones on site. They have south facing very private gardens and lots of birds come to visit. We will definitely be back again next year for another visit.

We were impressed with the lodge, it was very well presented and had everything that could be wanted for an enjoyable stay. The owners have achieved a very high standard with this lodge which would hard to match. The garden would have been nice if the weather had been better, we should have come later in the year.

We had a lovely relaxing stay here for 3 nights over the Easter weekend. The lodge was easy to find and had ample parking on arrival. We was welcomed with a beautiful hamper of goodies, fresh flowers and a personalised note which made us feel welcome immediately. The lodge was spotlessly clean and warm when we arrived. There was lots of information both about the lodge and tourist interest in various folders, as well as a selection of books ,DVD's , and games available. The kitchen equipment, was extensive with everything that you would need and more. The lodge is set in a private landscaped garden which has direct access through bi-fold doors from the lodge. It was very peaceful and just what we needed to recharge our batteries. We didn't meet our hosts Debbie and Ian but information was left should we have needed to contact them. We would definitely recommend, and will return ourselves if time permits.

Park the car. Walk about 30 meters down a flagstone path between high fences, open the gate to 'Oak Lodge', and WOW. Enter the private landscaped garden with sunning deck and see the lodge with the fully opening patio doors. Appreciation of the quality continues inside the lodge. Well situated geographically for excursions to many places of interest either by the sea or inland. A great stay.

About the neighbourhood
Stanton is ideally situated between the market towns of Bury St. Edmunds and Diss, amongst other attractive Suffolk villages where cottages are often painted and many still are thatched. One of the best served villages locally, Stanton has a village stores, two bakers, an excellent farm shop (with delicatessen), a farmers market, cafe and restaurant (all at Wyken Vineyards), a village pub, a petrol station, hardware shop and post office. The adjoining village of Ixworth has two pubs, both serving food, a library (internet access), a cafe and a village stores, whilst in the other direction, Walsham le Willows boasts Rolfe's the Butcher, 'Suffolks Best Butcher' which also sells groceries, cold meats and cheeses. They are famed for their own sausages, beef-burgers and they stock the award-win...
