Nice experience, Especially glad that dogs are welcome and not charged extra. There was a nice trail behind the house to the stream which they loved.

The setting and views were beautiful! The cabin was quaint and rustic and yet still had modern amenities provided. We touristed all the spots we intended and, in hindsight, would’ve liked more time for hiking and simply sitting on the front porch with the owner’s dog when she visited. Dining recommendations from the owners were spot on and much appreciated. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Have stayed in this cabin before. It is rustic. Only ac is upstairs - fine for us, even though we couldn't access the upstairs because of wife's leg issues. The downstairs has two foldout sofa beds, and one was firm enough for us to sleep well. It was cool enough using a fan. Owner added a new faucet, which was appreciated. The metal brace on the screen door had broken, and poked me a couple of times before I bent it out of the way. The whole screen door is way out of alignment. Not a major problem for us, but that needs to be addressed. For us, having the huge front "yard" is fantastic for both us and the two dogs. They are herding dogs, and don't run off. They establish their perimeter right off, and are free to roam. They did chase half-heartedly after the deer that came out of the woods to cross the "yard." We never tire of sitting out on the porch, drinking out coffee, listening to the birds, and just staring at the mountain scenery. It's July, but cool in the mountains, and a sweater is occasionally required, especially when the wind blows. Heaven for Floridians. You are close to town, and even closer to a Lowes supermarket, where their free wi-fi can be picked up in the parking lot. I load new books from my library there, and catch up on the news. There's a Stickman Restaurant in town that serves great sandwhiches, and an Indian Restaurant right next door that has really good food. A city park is close by these places for those that want to eat under a tree, watch the dog walkers and joggers, or let your children play in the enormous playground. We like to hop on the Parkway and drive up to Linville Falls where Famous Louise's serves good homecooked food and has pies and desserts of various kinds. There's a park nearby that we always take our dogs to. There's a smallish river that kids love, plenty of room and tables for picnicking in the shade. So, a great place to get away from the heat and relax.

The cabin was rustic but very enjoyable. Our grandkids loved the front yard area to run and see deer. Everything was within a 20-30 minute drive so easy to get around. We loved our stay!

My husband and I along with our 2 dogs absolutely loved our 5 days at this cabin! Everything is exactly as stated in the description. You don't hear anything except the birds and the wind blowing. We enjoyed sitting on the porch in the morning and evening to watch the deer. Our dogs loved all of the trails on the property and we couldn't keep them out of the streams, they had so much fun! The water was so clear and cold. A perfect way to unplug and decompress but if you want to go out to do something you're only minutes from town. We went to Foggy Mtn. Gem Mine and to Blowing Rock. We had the best steak dinner ever at The Peddler for our anniversary. The cabin has everything you need, the linens were fresh, the towels were also fresh and fluffy. We slept downstairs as the stairs going up to the bedroom are extremely steep, too steep for our dogs, they're 13 and we wanted to be able to be close to them if they needed to go potty late at night. Ed is super nice and attentive to anything you need or have questions about. We will definitely stay here again.

This cabin was perfect for me. It was off any main roads but near enough to other homes that I felt safe while also feeling secluded. It was 10-15 min drive from anything I might have needed from stores and 10-15 min drive from the Elk Knob State Park with great hiking. I was able to prepare my own meals and not have to eat out. The front porch with swing and rocking seat was by far my favorite feature. Ed was a wonderful host and checked in on me shortly after my arrival to ensure I had what I needed. Overall, I experienced a wonderfully peaceful respite.

We spent a long weekend at the cabin with our dogs. It's a great place to get away and unwind. Enjoyed watching the deer in mornings. Long trail walks in the evening. It was great.

My stay was the perfect experience for me and my two dogs. It was a digital detox in the most relaxing setting imaginable. There is nothing I didn't love about it: charming, rustic, quiet, wildlife, babbling brook. This rustic cabin isn't for everyone, though. The kitchen is minimal and the stairs to the bedroom would be challenging for older folks.

This was our 2nd time staying at the property and we love it! Great place to spend quality time with family. Great hiking paths right along amazing creeks behind the cabin! Ed is very attentive and came to the property quickly when we had trouble with the pull out sofas.
