The cabin is pretty well isolated on a dead-end road up in the mountains. (There is one house on the property next door) The last mile of road however...and the very driveway up to the house itself...is a steep, gravel-covered, muddy, pothole-filled disaster. A 4-wheel drive or AWD vehicle with good ground clearance is required. The cabin has nice front and rear porch and we dubbed the inside "Moose Central" as it has great moose decorations throughout. The heat worked well, as well as the gas fireplace, so the cold morning temps were not an issue. (4 of the 6 beds are located in the loft however and it does get stifling hot up there.) The kitchen has limited counter space so if you plan on cooking be warned, but it has all the appliances and extras you should need...including a Keurig. The kitchen table can be expanded with a leaf in the closet. The master bed could stand replacement but the couches seemed fairly new. Do not bring any black clothing however as you will be constantly decorated with dog hair during your visit. You have to truck your garbage to a dump site down on the local hwy.

My husband and I spent a week in this Moose-kitschy little cabin using it as a "home base" in order to explore the Boone/Blowing Rock area. Up near the top of a small ridge, surrounded by trees, you forget you're less than 15 minutes from town. It is clean and well-appointed with anything you might need to cook or grill out. The hot tub was used nightly and we enjoyed it immensely. We also used the front porch rocking chairs every evening before dinner, just to watch the hummingbirds, squirrels, and rabbits. I highly recommend this cabin for use for a couple or a family with kids. The upstairs loft area is perfect to let the kids have their own lounging area with a TV and their own sleeping area with twin beds. The master bedroom is downstairs and has enough privacy for the adults.

Beautiful place to stay for the weekend, though it was much too short of a stay! Great location and beautiful house! Thanks for your attention to detail Theresa, your house is a gem with lots of decorative moose!

My fiance and I had a great time in this beautiful cabin. Everything was as described aside for the Secluded part. We were hoping for something with a little more privacy, but having another cabin 50 ft on either side does not really allow for much. Otherwise it was a little slice of heaven on top of the mountain.

Hi Nicholas! I am glad you enjoyed! A Mountain Dream Cabin is pretty lucky because usually neither of those neighbors are up there, let alone at the same time. Plus neither of them rent out their cabin so even though they might seem close to you it is rare occasion that they are even up there! Thank you! Hope you stay again soon!

We had a wonderful time at the cabin. The cabin is high up on a hill and offered a great view ! It was warm and cozy and perfect for a family vacation for four of us! We did several hikes closeby during the day. We drove up to Rowan mountain/ carver’s gap ( abt 45 min to 1 hr drive from cabin) and it was an amazing hike with splendid views!
