A cozy place to relax and enjoy the surrounding view of Bay St. George. Where you can see nature at it's finest and lovely sunsets. There is 69' Skeleton of a Fin Whale on site. One hour from Port Aux Basques ferry terminal, route 405 on Newfoundland's scenic west coast, and a half hours from Corner Brook. You can enjoy watching the horse in the adjoining field. We are located near three salmon rivers and a working fishing harbor. There are many hiking and walking trails, such as the Maidstone Meander or Jefferies Jaunt etc. Whale sightings of the local colonies of bald eagles. Many song birds are available for your enjoyment. You can also enjoy fishing in nearby Crab's River or River Brook. Exploring the local geological treasures and marine flotsam at Ship Cove. In the spring you can watch the seals frolicking in Crabbe's River. Or watch the whales chasing Caplin up the shore. The front deck has a barbecue and and picnic tables. There is a fire pit to have a fire with wood supplied for a great evening toasting marshmallows while enjoying the amazing sunsets. Be sure to bring bug spray. The stairs to the shoreline that can be followed to an active fishing village at Crabs River and is part of the Maidstone Meander. The Sunsets and night skies are have to be seen. We are located just up the road from one of the second largest state of art dairy farms this side of Montreal. Tours can be arranged with at least a 48 hour request prior to your arrival. There is an working fishing community on Crabs River, which is a 3 minute drive or a 30 minute leisurely walk. Come up to the main house Maidstone Inn B & B. We are more than happy to meet you. Lisa will show you down to the cottage and explain the features of the place. There are binoculars in the cabin for you convenience for bird or whale watching. A pod of whales are seen usually in the early summer. Eagles have been know to fly over the cottage on the way from Crabbe's river to River Brook. The Cottage has heated mattress covers for your convenience, Each room has a heater and a fan is available in the front living room. There is a stow and go play pen and toys for young children to play with when it is raining. We are situated between two (2) salmon rivers which are less than 20 minute walk both ways.

Rural area with many hidden gem's to find. The Maidstone Meander is a easy walk with cliff side views of Bay St. George that ends over Crabbe's river fishing community. We have the second largest diary farm this side of Montreal, QB. The Highland's are a 20 minute drive from our location. The drive takes you through St. David's where you can explore the local historic society museum. Showing our local history and tie to fishing and logging. St. Fintan's holds the local Station Grocery store, Liquor and beer store also carries fresh produce Roman Catholic church, the priests house and the catholic school that use to house hundreds of children when the community was thriving. While you can walk to some of the local area's if you are very energetic you are better to either have a bike or car.
