Westcove House is an early Georgian manor house nestled in southern tip of the famous 'Ring of Kerry', overlooking the beautiful Kenmare estuary & with lovely views of the mountains beyond. Inside the central hallway with its high ceilings, you can immediately feel the character and sense the history of this unique home, which is an eclectic mix of past and present owners but with all the modern conveniences of modern living including internet connection. The house comfortably sleeps 10 in 2 double rooms, 2 twin rooms, 2 adjoining single rooms and 5 bath shower rooms. Our spacious and fully equipped kitchen has a large range cooker, fridges,freezers, a microwave & 2 dishwashers. From the 18th century hand painted hunting lodge furniture, to the many Chinese and Irish artefacts/paintings of the current owners, Westcove is much more than the usual 'holiday rental' . Whether you simply wish to explore this part of Kerry, walk, fish, golf, write or come together with family and/or friends, Westcove is the perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of life. Enjoy meals in our elegant dining room overlooking the harbour (delicious catering options available!) Relax with a drink by open fire in the sitting room, or sit out on the terrace taking in the Atlantic air and watch the boats, or our herd of Soay sheep at play, against a backdrop of ever-changing light and colour flickering on the sea and mountains beyond. Tenants of Westcove House may also use the games room and small gym/sauna, both of which are shared with tenants of The Stables but have their own external entrances. We can seat up to 55 guests in the games/function room for celebration meals.Live music/dancing can also be arranged in this large spacious room which is in The Stables building but is also accessible from the outside, as is a small excercise room with sauna and walk-in shower. For larger numbers a marquee can be erected on the spacious lawn in front of the Stables for up to 100 guests. Please note: For larger groups, Westcove House can be booked with The Stables (listing number 46961), sleeping up to 21; with Garden Cottage (listing number 101215), sleeping up to 15 or for all 3 properties sleeping up to 26, see listing number 101501. Owner's cancellation policy: Any deposit paid on booking is non-refundable - except when the client rebooks at the time of cancellation the same property within the following 12 months, in which case the deposit can be carried over less 8% of the full rental as an admin fee. If the owner is able to re-let the property/properties for the full period of the booking, the deposit will be returned less 10% of the full rental as an administration charge. If the booking is cancelled after the full balance has been paid, i.e. six/eight weeks prior to the commencement date, the full sum shall be forfeited. However, as a concession, if the owner is able to re-let the property/properties for the full period of the booking the sum paid for the rental will be returned less 10% of the full rental as an administration charge. Any cancellation made by the client for whatever reason must be confirmed by email. IT IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED THAT CLIENTS ARRANGE HOLIDAY CANCELLATION INSURANCE COVER. More

About the neighbourhood

Local activities include: A variety of boat trips for fishing or sightseeing Horse riding for all ages and abilities on nearby Derrynane Dunes Walks range from gentle strolls along the many sandy beaches (many of which are excellent for swimming) to more serious hikes over craggy hills. Fishing: Salmon, trout and sea fishing can be arranged locally and guests can enjoy shrimping and rock fishing just below the house - Watersports Centre at Derrynane beach, five miles away - sailing, water-skiing, canoeing, and windsurfing ...all ages catered for... Six golf courses within one hour's drive, including the Championship course at Waterville which is only 20 minutes away Eating Out: There are several excellent and varied restaurants around

Getting around

There is no public transport in the area...the nearest train station is in Killarney - over one hour's drive away. Although there are taxis/minicabs..even private buses locally, happy to arrange tours for our visitors, we strongly recommend that you hire a self-drive car/cars at the airport for the duration of your stay, as there is so much to explore in this fascinating area.....details on our website and in folders on arrival
