Hawthorns at Alderwood Lodges, is situated on the edge of Garboldisham village, on the Norfolk/Suffolk border by the Little Ouse river. It has a king size bedroom en suite, a twin room & a bunk room and another main bathroom. We have 3 lodges (Hawthorns, Brambles & Burnside), all set in tranquil 9 acres of woodland & grassland area with wildlife surrounding. A bird hide is on site for all guests to enjoy, with maybe spotting the kingfishers on the river and even on rare occasions the otters. This is a great place to stay for wildlife lovers and anyone who enjoys peace & quiet. Children will love building dens in the wood and dogs will enjoy walks on the site. We had a brilliant stay in Burnside, a lovely, cosy well equipped lodge to celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary. It was quiet and peaceful in a beautiful setting near the river with lovely walks around the lodge. Leigh, the owner was lovely and very helpful. I would thoroughly recommend this place.

We loved our stay at burnside! Leigh was extremely accommodating and was able to put one of the single beds under the other one to make room for the travel cot. Perfect location for piece and quiet. We loved the little circular walk that she has in her grounds, which takes you past the fairy garden and the bird hide. It is 5 mins drive from Knettishall Heath Nature Reserve, which has amazing walks with part wild horses. We also spent our days visiting southwold and roarr dinosaur adventure Park.

Just had a fantastic week away in brambles. Wonderful tranquil place, just what was needed after being in lockdown. Seeing the deer so close to the lodge nearly everyday made my week. Will definitely be coming again in the future.

We have just had a lovely week in Hawthorns enjoying the countryside and the ability to sit on the veranda with a drink or a meal or a book. The lodge was very clean, well-equipped and comfortable and the owners are lovely and welcoming and helpful. We have a dog and it was great to have the grass, the woods and the feeling of space and privacy all around.
Thank you for a great week.

My husband and I and two friends have just returned from a week in the Hawthorns lodge which was well equipped with everything you need. Very clean and comfortable with a nice welcoming pack. The setting of this lodge is so tranquil with rabbits and deer roaming freely. The owner Leigh was very helpful and friendly and very kindly gave our friends a bottle of wine as it was their wedding anniversary whilst we were there and even drove us to a near by pub so we could all enjoy their anniversary. Would not hesitate to stay here again of revisiting the area.

Nice clean lodge set in peaceful location with lots of wildlife. Leigh the owner was very nice and communicated with me to ensure we had all we wanted. We enjoyed walking through the woodland trying to find the wildlife. Well worth a stay.

My mother, father and myself stayed at the Brambles Lodge, and LOVED it! It was our first time ever to England, visiting my Son as he married his Beautiful Bride on the first of April. The lodge had all you could need or want and it was a Fantastic Stay! If ever, I get the chance to do it again, I will definitely plan on staying here, again! Thanks So Much, Leigh you made our stay from the states a wonderful experience!

Everything about the week we spent in this lodge was just perfect. Leigh and family had thought of everything to settle us in. From the warm welcome that we received, to the little touches, such as milk in the fridge, coffee and tea bags. We were given a tour of the lodge, shown how things worked and where everything was. The lodge was clean and tidy, I cannot find any fault.
We were marrying on the Monday and were very touched by the gift and card we received. We pre warned Leigh that a few people would be back at the lodge after our ceremony for a bbq and we discovered a spare bbq in case one was not big enough.
The grounds are immaculate and there are plenty of feeders to attract wildlife. I feel our dog may have had something to do with the lack of wildlife but we did see bats, hear owls and hedgehogs and my son was lucky enough to spot a dear.
Hopefully we will return in the future and this is one place I would certainly recommend.
