Burnside at Alderwood Lodges, is situated on the edge of Garboldisham village, on the Norfolk/Suffolk border by the Little Ouse river. It has a king size bedded room & a small twin bedded room & one main bathroom. We have 3 lodges (Hawthorns, Brambles & Burnside), all set in tranquil 9 acres of woodland & grassland area with wildlife surrounding. A bird hide is on site for all guests to enjoy, with maybe spotting the kingfishers on the river and even on rare occasions the otters. This is a great place to stay for wildlife lovers and anyone who enjoys peace & quiet. Children will love building dens in the wood and dogs will enjoy walks on the site. We normally only accept a max of 2 dogs in Burnside lodge by prior arrangement, but get in touch if you need to bring more than two. Beautiful location on the Norfolk/Suffolk border with deer, rabbits, pheasants and hares right outside the windows of the lodge. Bird watchers are spoilt for choice with a bird hide and binoculars on the woodland walk right next to the lodge. The owner is warm and friendly. She has thought of every convenience you might need - high chair, iron, ironing board, children’s games, DVD’s, broadband, washing machine, dog bowl and even a cool bag for a picnic. Perfect place to stay with our little dog and we’ll definitely be back. 😊

What a Christmas, Leigh pulled out all the stops, the lodges were beautifully decorated , it was so magical, we have stayed before in the spring( wildlife is amazing to watch)but this time brought daughter and family for Xmas they stayed in one of the larger lodges, there are three lodges in total, all spaced away from each other in the woods, so private, each one was covered in lights which in the pitch black,( no light pollution here) was stunning, we all got lovely gifts, even the two dogs. The cleanliness is above and beyond, the beds so comfy and the bedding smelt gorgeous, even the bedding was Christmassy, Leigh leaves so many little touches it just makes your holiday, so so cosy and warm, We all had a wonderful Xmas despite the terrible rainy weather, the heath and nature reserve just up the road is stunning. All in all a perfect family Christmas. Can’t praise it enough.

Exceptionally comfortable and well appointed timber lodge very close to the river Little Ouse on outskirts of Garbaldisham. 9 acres of wildlife rich grounds to explore. Owner Leigh very welcoming and helpful during fuel crisis ! A wealth of artisan studios in the area and very central for visits to Ely, Bury St Edmunds and Norwich. Great village shop nearby. A memorable holiday.

This has been my second stay at Burnside Lodge, and I'm sure there will be a third! Lodge is located in the serene countryside of Norfolk, with all needs catered for. You can spend hours strolling the fields and woodland nearby. Comfortable, clean, and a fantastic choice of pubs and restaurants a short drive away, this is the perfect place for a family or couples getaway.

Our third visit now to Alderwood Lodges - this time in the autum - as always every thing you can think of has been supplied (even things you did not know you needed!!) So cosy and warm - even electric blabkets on the beds - even better is was all decorated ready for Christmas - made it even more special. Dogs loved their walks in the woods and still wildlife a plenty at this time of year. Can't wait now till our next visit in June 2020 - look forward to seeing you Leigh

We have just got back from a great week in Burnside Lodge. It makes for the perfect base to explore Norfolk and Suffolk. The cabin has everything you need and more! The woods at the back are great for kids to explore safely and see some wildlife. Leigh was brilliant and made us feel very welcome right from the very first email. See you again!

Arrived for a weekend break for our anniversary, looking forward to the peace and quiet, we were not disappointed. The lodge is located in grounds surrounded by woodland, next to a small stream/river. Sitting on our porch we were treated to bats swooping around us at dusk. We also saw 3 deer, rabbits, pheasants, and such a variety of bird life. The lodge itself is equipped with everything you could think of and very clean, comfy bed after a long day of exploring. The local shop is ideal but you are about 15 minutes away from the local towns so it is a great base to travel around from, we highly recommend a visit to horsey bay to see the seals, it was spectacular and the town Diss was very picturesque. Leigh the owner was on hand if we needed anything without being intrusive. In all a wonderful break and we are looking forward to returning.

We stayed at Alderwood Lodges, Burnside Lodge for a week. We had a lovely time. The lodge was home from home and had everything that you could have wanted. The lodge was cosy and comfortable in a lovely peaceful location. The owner, Leigh, was very friendly and approachable without being intrusive. Comfortable lodge in peaceful location, well equipped and managed. Stayed for 4 nights in January and were pleased to find a very high standard of accommodation with all amenities provided. Lodge was well prepared for our arrival and equipped with dishwasher, washing machine/dryer and very comfortable bath and shower with good amounts of hot water. Leigh was quick to inform us of potential power issues that arose and all communication was professional. We passed a very enjoyable short visit here, the location is lovely and remote, and we would definitely consider coming again.

We have just returned from a relaxing break at the lodge over the New Year period. We had a very enjoyable few days, with everything we could possibly need. The lodge is very clean and well looked after and Leigh is quick to help wherever necessary. The area around is very attractive and all the main shops a short drive away. We are planning our next visit!
