We stayed in the Gate Lodge for a week in June. Stunning location in the heart of Connemara countryside. You can stroll down to the sea edge in front of the property or walk up the hill behind it for amazing views. Cottage itself was very comfortable, well supplied and of course spotless. It has a hidden little patio at rear which traps some of the evening sun. Hosts who live in the main house are very friendly and helpful with encyclopedic knowledge of the area. Picked up some good recommendations for our trip to Boffin Island which was a wonderful (if rushed) day trip.

We stayed in the East Wing of Doonregan barn for a week in May and had the most amazing week, I think we left part of hearts in Ireland. The barn itself is very comfortable and modern. It's in a wonderful location, tucked away in what feels like your own private oasis. There was no one else staying in west wing when we were there but if there had been I don't think it would of changed the secluded feel. We were lucky in that we had beautiful weather for the whole week and I think I felt the calmest and most stress free ever just sitting on Cashel hill looking down on the barn and across the bay it was amazingly peaceful and it restored our souls. As we got engaged in Dublin the weekend before we arrived we have the perfect excuse to come back on anniversaries!😊 Anne was very welcoming and Puchin I think that's right is the biggest fluffiest most gentle dog I've seen! We would love to come back with our dog next time there's still so much more to see. Highly recommended but shhhhh don't tell everyone! 😊

We spent a very relaxing 14 days in the East wing of the converted barn. Despite 7 days of wet and windy weather we managed to enjoy the accommodation, the local area and the Connemara National Park. Access to the wing is very private and easy. We had a great view of the small mountain behind the property and even managed to climb it on a cold windy day for a fantastic view of the surrounding area. The unit is warm, the hosts (Lord & Lady Roden) friendly and the surrounding area is extensive but within easy reach. We even had a day out on Inis Mor by ferry. The local restaurants and pubs offer great food at reasonable prices. The internet was fast and stable and I loved the fact that we paid a price and it was all inclusive (no hidden energy costs). If you want to "do Connemara" then this is the place to stay. Highly recommended. If I had to raise any issue then it would be nice to have cable TV but maybe we did more because it wasn't available :-)

This is the third time we have stayed in the cottage and it is an excellent base for site seeing within Connemara. The cottage is 2 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms and everything that you require is provided for you even down to washing line and pegs at the rear of the cottage. This is most useful especially since this time we had our 15 week old grandson with us. The owners are on site if you need them but are not intrusive but are there if you need them. I would thoroughly recommend this cottage and I can assure anyone who stays there they will have a wonderful time as well as enjoying the friendliness of the locals.
