Holiday Rental House
Be Gabriel Oak, in far from the madding crowd in Dorset! The Shepherds hut has its own small log burner to make it nice and cosy to sleep in the comfy double bed. Situated in the woodland, it is off grid and you will be able to fall asleep to the sound of our owls after a day of walking the coast line and visiting the RSPB at Arne where BBC2 Autumn & Winter Watch has been filmed. Beware that there are the night time noises of the foxes barking, the deer rutting and the owls twitt twooing. There is no wifi or electricity at the shepherds hut. This is your time away from your devices. The lighting is by lamp powered by battery. So bring a good torch and some easy to slip on foot wear e.g. flip flops. If the weather forecast is inclement then waterproof foot gear is a good idea eg wellies. C...Be Gabriel Oak, in far from the madding crowd in Dorset! If the weather forecast is inclement then waterproof foot gear is a good idea eg wellies. Come as if you are camping bringing your bedding (pillows, duvets & bottom sheet or sleeping bag) and wash things including towel. If you are cycling or coming by train or if you would just like us to provide you with bedding then we can happily do this for and extra charge of £10. There is a shower and loo in the downstairs of our house with independent access . This is about 100 yards away from the hut through a gate. We very much appreciate it if you can leave the hut as you find it by sweeping it out, clearing the ash from the fire and depositing your rubbish in the appropriately labelled bins by the shower room. If you would like us to supply the coal and kindling for the stove then the charge is £5 payable on arrival. The Shepherds hut is located in the woodland. You have access to the downstairs loo and shower in our family home and woodland walks, enjoy the stepping stones over the stream. Our family home is 100 yards from the Shepherds Hut and we make every effort to allow you peace and conduct family life, so there will be the occasional woof from our lovely dog when they are alarmed by badgers, foxes or deer who are busy at night. Our woods are also home to owls. We write this as often people believe mistakenly that the countryside is silent. If you are holidaying with friends then you might also be interested in our listing 'Purbeck Woodland apartment' which sleeps 5 at the main house. We hope that you appreciate that we have to operate a no dogs and no smoking policy for the safety of our farm woodland and livestock.More

Wow. What a lovely location for a shepards hut. Sat in woodlands next to a running stream. I truly felt at one with nature away from the real world. Somewhere to truly unwind and get to know yourself better. I was greeted by such a...More

About the neighbourhood
The Farm is set back from the road, located on the corner of two very beautiful roads. Grange road leads towards lovely coastal sites of Warbarrow Bay and Kimmeridge and on to Corfe Castle in one direction and Lulworth castle in the other. Holme Lane meanders along the Frome Valley towards Wool, great for cycling, blackberry picking. To the north of the farm is the village of Stoborough (10 min walk) with a shop at the caravan site, a lovely local pub, children’s play area and lots of walks with the RSPB Nature Reserve close by at Arne. Across the causeway (10 in walk from Stoborough) is the traditional market town of Wareham. The town is arranged around 4 roads, North, South, East and West streets.
Getting around
Easy walk to Wareham takes about 15 mins. The same to the closest bus stop to Swanage. Cycling to Wareham is about 10 mins. The highly acclaimed Stoborough Heath is run by the RSPB and is just 5 minutes away, although during the bird's nesting season no dogs are allowed in. This is to protect the ground nesting birds whilst they are producing their young. We also have another nature walk and are 5 mins drive from Tyneham, its beach, Lulworth Castle and 10 mins from the Lulworth Cove. Holme Lane, where we live, is also on a cycle route. There is a good London rail service with plenty of taxis available in Wareham for the 5 minute trip to here.
