On arrival the keys will be waiting for you, for self-entry, and Grace will telephone you at the cottage to welcome you in and answer any queries you may have. House Manager, Jo (Joanne) Steventon, who lives nearby, will be happy to assist you with any queries, and emergencies. If you wish, Jo will be able to suggest trips out, and things you might like to do. Or, if you prefer a 'hands-off' approach that is fine too. Liam at the Village Shop is also a very helpful contact, please just tell him you are a guest of Grace (and Jo) at Bluestone Church, and I am sure he will look after you. Good coffee shop, cooked breakfasts, and friendly local people.

My wife and I had stayed in the St. Fillans area on six occasions and always said we should stay at the Bluestone Church. When we got the chance to do so this year, we jumped at it. St Fillans is a 90 minute drive from both Glasgow and Edinburgh Airports so very easy to get to by car. The property is situated on Loch Earn with the local store virtually next door. Happy days. The property externally looks stunning as a former church but once you get inside it's the gift that keeps on giving. Lovely snug at the back of the house with a log fire that services the snug and kitchen plus upstairs via the main flue. A well appointed kitchen and dining area that flows through to a cloakroom and a good sized lounge. To say that this place is cozy and warm is an understatement. The atmosphere is so relaxing, once you close the door, you experience tranquillity. Upstairs there are two very good sized bedrooms, one with en suite and a shower room. There is nothing in this property that hasn't been thought of. We stayed a week and could easily have stayed far longer. This is one of the most peaceful places we've ever stayed in. This part of Scotland is an absolute gem and the Bluestone Church is very much a hidden one. Outstanding accommodation, can't fault anything at all. Booking with the owner Grace was so easy and her suggestions for things to do in the local area were first rate. If you're after a treat when you stay in Scotland, this is it.

If you need to escape reality then this is the place for you, with glorious views, mountains on your doorstep and the loch a walk away. Some really fabulous walks and views. And a bonus if you like fishing. Our stay there was just perfect, exactly what we needed. Bluestone Church is quaint with all the mod-coms that you need. A perfect getaway to recharge, and the owners are the loveliest people you will ever meet. I definitely will be going back.

We felt very fortunate to be able stay at Bluestone Church in the May half term holidays. Like many people we haven’t had a family holiday or break anywhere for quite some time. The Bluestone Church and St Fillans were perfect. The accommodation was immaculately clean and tidy, we have been previously, and this time saw many improvements and updates. We felt very reassured by the fact that no other guests had been to the property for a week and that there was a week in-between each booking. This also meant that we didn’t feel ‘rushed’ to get there for a certain time or ‘check-out’ early. We especially liked the new ‘re-wilding’ meadow type garden that Grace informed us has been planted to encourage even more wildlife, butterfly's and bees to visit the garden. Both our daughters enjoyed the daily visits from a group of ducks, who visited in the mornings to have their breakfast and they loved feeding them bird seed that had been left by Grace and Chris. The scenery was breath-taking and we enjoyed many walks and visits down to the Loch. The playpark at the back of Shoe Makers Lane was really wonderful and the equipment was fantastic. The village wasn’t overly busy and felt as safe and friendly as always. We ate at the Achray House Hotel on the Friday evening and had a lovely meal, chef Ryan was incredibly friendly and passionate about the food that he cooks. He let us know about his at home dining experience called ‘Haste ye back dining’ which was developed during lockdown. We will definitely try this when we return. We had a lovely day out at Auchingarrich wildlife centre and there were plenty of things to occupy the children. The hatchery was open and it was lovely to see all of the new baby chicks. We enjoyed a drink and a piece of cake on the terrace while the girls enjoyed playing in the outdoor playground. We will definitely be visiting again soon.

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a lovely review, so helpful to highlight for other guests all the things that you enjoyed about your stay as a family. It was our pleasure to have you back again, it is always comforting to welcome return visitors, reassured that we are keeping on top of the things that are important. Great to know that you enjoyed a really comfortable stay at Bluestone and beautiful St. Fillans just as much as you ever did. Thank you for noticing all the changes and improvements we keep making, and that you were impressed with our new pretty blue picket-fence in place of that old overgrown hedge. Keeps the garden private and secure and has revealed such a lovely view over the trees to the high hills beyond. Please thank your girls for us for feeding the wild ducks that come into the garden, the girls and the ducks will have loved that! We appreciate all your recommendations on local wining and dining and visitor attractions, again a great help for our other guests. I must say our friendly local Hoteliers, the Village Shop, and the Golf Club deserve a lot of praise, they have been amazingly inventive with home-deliveries, and take-aways, ordering things in for people, and generally looking after everyone's safety.. It is so lovely to see things all opening up again. Thank you again for coming to stay, we hope to welcome you back again sometime soon. All good wishes Grace

Cosy and beautiful converted church - 100% enjoyed staying over half term. Spacious bedrooms with very big, comfy beds plus two lounge areas meant as a family we had lots of options to be together or enjoy time doing different things. House is so well equipped with many thoughtful extras. In the heart of the village and just a few steps away from the fab village shop and cafe where we could grab breakfast and lunch plus some essentials such as milk, bread (and wine!). Enjoyed many days out using Blue Stone as a base, but you don’t need to go far as lovely walks, friendly locals and an amazing children’s playground on the doorstep. Cannot recommend enough and we’d love to come back. Thank you for all the home and area info before arriving also.

Thank you again for taking the time to write such a lovely review. I know I have already thanked you privately, but just for the record I thank you again for being great guests, and good friends. We were so pleased to have you come to stay in your old haunt of beautiful St. Fillans and delighted to know you all had such an enjoyable stay and loved Bluestone Church as your base. I believe you were our last visitors before the unthinkable happened and the first Covid lockdown began. I hope you will forgive me for just getting round to formally replying to your review. It's almost as if Bluestone Church has languished something like a "Sleeping Beauty" during her long Scottish lockdown, and now kissed by the "Prince of Vaccine" has come to life once more. How thankful we are to be able to offer a welcome again to beautiful Bluestone Church, and our wonderful village of St. Fillans. With all good wishes Grace

First class quality accommodation finished to a high standard in a unique building and stunning location. The owner's attention to detail and personal touch were evident with the accommodation tailored to our requirements. Little touches like a breakfast welcome pack are welcomed as this is unusual in my experience plus a the kitchen was well stocked with everything you need to make self catering hassle free. The location is very picturesque and the nearby Loch Earn and surrounding area offer spectacular views - there are various walks catering for all abilities. An excellent location which we would return to.

Thank you again for your very positive review. I have already been in touch privately to thank you for choosing to come to stay, for your very kind comments and to arrange to return some personal belongings. No problem, always a pleasure to help. It is really lovely when guests like you do recognise and appreciate the hard work that goes into personally tailoring Bluestone's unique charms and unexpected extras specifically for our guest's comfort and enjoyment - that's what makes the place feel just like home. Great too that you so enjoyed the spectacular views and beautiful surroundings. Hope we can welcome you and yours sometime again. Kind regards Grace

Just a short walk to the loch, with views of the hills behind the cottage. Bluestone Church is the most well-equipped, comfortable holiday cottage we've been to. Lovely walks around St Fillans and Loch Earn.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your lovely review of Bluestone Church. It is really satisfying to know that you found the cottage to be the most well-equipped and comfortable cottage you have ever been to. That means a lot, thank you, I really do try to think of everything to make for a comfortable home-from-home for my guersts, and it is lovely that you have noticed. I was delighted to know you had a good chance to relax in this special litle building and enjoyed the pretty surroundings of its beautiful location. We are indeed very fortunate that lovely Loch Earn and such lovely scenery sits just outside our front door, and easy walks are plentiful close-by. Thank you for taking part in the 'ready steady cook' grocery cupboard that we leave there entirely for the convience of guests; we enjoyed the gnocchi and a few other items you left for us in return (thank you). I hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back sometime again. With Best Wishes Grace

With a family of four we stayed in Blue Stone Church during our autumn break. The place is sufficiently large, but remains cosy. The real highlight are the bedrooms which are very comfortable. It also has a surprisingly well equipped kitchen. Given the time of year we could not really enjoy the garden, but we did enjoy the surroundings. Of course this little church in a charming village makes any stay a bit more special than the average rental. The property is well kept and clean, and owner is very friendly and responsive. She gave us some useful tips, including an event at the Mohr 84 restaurant. The only negative (to some) might be the somewhat challenging steep driveway, but you’d be able to park across the road.

Thank you kindly for your lovely review of your visit to Bluestone Church last October. It was my pleasure to have you and your family to stay. I was pleased to hear you found the beds so comfortable, the house charming, and enjoyed your visit fully, and in particular the "Highland Safari" I recommended to you. It was great to know that you chose to get involved and took up the experience of this delightful Highland walking day outside (especially in the glorious Autumn sunshine you enjoyed). The atmospheric scenery of Scottish lochs and hills is pretty spectacular in all seasons and you enjoyed frequent stops along the way to look at the view and partake of the outdoor picnics laid out for you. A great chance to sample freshly prepared Scottish food and drink appetisers along the way until the finale of a great big cozy Barn with blazing log fire, twinkling lights and a delicious sit-down dinner with wines and music. I was delighted you enjoyed this special day out and a good 'taste' of Scottish hospitality. I hope one day I may have the opportunity to welcome you back again, to see what special event I could highlight for you next time. Sending all good wishes from St. Fillans Kind regards Grace

My family and I visited Bluestone Chapel over Easter and were expecting it to be nice after reading reviews however we were blown away by the place. The Chapel has everything that you require and Grace is always on hand if you need anything. Every effort has gone into the whole place from top quality towels and dressing gowns to Sky and BT sport. The outlook and surrounding areas are beautiful and breakfast st the village store is not to be missed, we went four times! If I hadn't already booked a holiday for Whitsun week we would be going back it will have to be 2020 now. Thank you Grace and Bluestone!

About the neighbourhood
The area is full of romantic castles and dramatic scenery, a great place to relax and enjoy a slower pace of life. Situated on Loch Earn there are wonderful walks, or simply take your picnic down to the banks of the beautiful loch and relax. Scotland is well known for its New Year celebrations. Hogmanay street parties are commonplace, and if you come to stay you could visit the neighbouring village of Comrie and watch the ancient ritual of 12 strong men in kilts parading around the village carrying burning cabers to ward off any ill spirits, accompanied by pipe bands in full highland dress, with revellers dancing in the streets. When the bells ring out at midnight the flaming torches are hurled off the bridge and into the River Earn to extinguish the old year, and to bring in the New Year.
Getting around
A car is pretty much essential to allow you the freedom to tour around and visit all the many delights of this area of the Central Scottish Highlands, allowing you to stop and linger a while at any city, town, village or natural sight that attracts your interest along the way. Day trips out to Visitor Attractions and further afield can be enjoyed by driving to the West and East coastal fishing ports and villages, as well as allowing you the adventure of getting off the main thoroughfares to explore so much of the beautiful Scottish country-side and hidden places. There is currently a local bus route to/from St.Fillans/Perth which stops at all the villages along the route. Please check at the local bus stance in St. Fillans for times.
