Holiday Rental House
Chracaig is a cosy one story house typical of the Island. Situated within a forested garden and with the river Chracaig running behind it, the house is set in tranquil surroundings. A 15 minute walk, or 5 minute drive, from the centre of Portree, here you will find the serenity of the Isle of Skye countryside whilst being close to town and amenities. This is a very special spot on the country road leading out of the town. The house is set within large mature gardens offering private parking at the front. From the house, there is a view of the spectacular Cuillin hills. The Isle of Skye is extreme in it's colours, these are evident in the garden and along Staffin road. The sky at night is also worth appreciating for it's stars. Flowing by the house, the river Chracaig can be heard and adds...Chracaig is a cosy one story house typical of the Island. There is a wood burning stove and additional heating in the house to ensure your comfort whatever the weather. Private parking is at the front of the house. More

What a fantastic cottage! Very well located in the center of the Isle of Skye. Walking distance from the city center of Portree. The cottage was clean and everything we needed was in good condition and clean. We would certainly book again.

About the neighbourhood
Portree has many restaurants, cafes and hotels for eating as well as amenities and specialised boutique shops. Portree harbour is a colourful walk where you can sit and eat lunch. The Scorrybreac coastal circuit and Ben Chracaig for hiking are both a few minutes from the house. Many more walks and sites can be visited on the island those closest to the house are Staffin beach, Glen Sligachan where the view of the Cuillin mountains is spectacular, the Old man of Storr and Kilt rock. Although the Isle of Skye is one of the largest islands in the Inner Hebrides, all sites of interest are accessible even if only staying a short while. Popular sites like the Coral beach by Dunvegan, Dunvegan castle are accessible in a days drive from Portree.
Getting around
Portree is a pleasant walk or drive from the house down to the centre of Portree. Public buses run around the island and leave from the square in the centre of Portree. A car is recommended for travellimg around the island. There is car parking in the centre of Portree. Portree is a great base for exploring the rest of the Island. It is also a central point for Island hopping over to Raasay for the day or further afield to the outer Hebrides of Lewis and Harris. A welcome pack in the house provides all the information you will require for your stay.
