From the moment you drive up you can see that this property in neglected & poorly maintained. Once inside it gets much much worse. The whole place isnt just dirty, it is filthy. The windows are so dirty & smeared you can hardly see out of them. There were dead insects on the window sills that had obviously been there a long while. The inside of the oven was so dirty we didn't want to cook in it, so looked at cooking on the BBQ. This was also filthy, black and covered in grease inside, and had never seen a clean. We texted the owner requesting if she had a wire brush so that we could try to clean it up enough to use. She ignored our text.
When deciding which of the bedrooms to use it was a tough choice as neither of the beds were good, both the mattresses had seen better days. However the downstairs room smelt of damp so we slept in the one upstairs, All the bedding was extremely creased, it had never seen an iron, and the sheets and the top cover had large stains on them. The towels supplied in the bathroom had also seen better days. There was no hanging space in the bedrooms, so we ended up just living out of our suitcase.
In the kitchen , not only was the oven dirty, but the dishwasher was broken, the cupboard fronts were splashed with dirt and stains, and there were no proper glasses of any kind, just kilner jars with lids (Really at these prices!), Once again we texted the owner asking if she had any, and her reply was "there might be a couple of wine glasses in the cupboard, but I dont drink" There were not any, and in the end we went out and purchased proper glasses to use.
All the floors were dirty and in the lounge area the table and the four side stools underneath it were covered in a thick layer of dust, so goodness knows what whoever is supposed to clean is doing.
As for the bathrooms, the toilet brush and holder was gross. It had obviously never seen a clean.
All night you can hear the pump running very noisily for the hot tub, which having seen the filth every where else we were not in a hurry to use. The noise is very intrusive and kept us awake. We asked the owner to get the pump turned off as you cant do it yourself. Not really in keeping with a holiday in the peaceful mountains we were expecting.
We could not even sit outside and enjoy the views as the cushions on the outside furniture have been left out and are covered in mildew and animal faeces.
The final insult is on the instructions regarding departure the list is endless but one of the things you are told to do is to strip the bed. Really! If you are staying at a friends house absolutely, but when you are paying extortionate prices for this dirty, poorly maintained property, I dont think so. We were so disappointed, we had already left early when this email came through. The owner has never acknowledged our complaints or made any recompense.
This rental is vastly overpriced, but even it was cheaper, if you want to stay in clean, comfortable surroundings in the peace of the mountains, definitely stay somewhere else.
