Dear Dwayne,
We were so sad to hear of your less than excellent experience staying with us at Cedar Cove cabin at Tuckaleechee Retreat Center. It is our goal for each and every guest to have an outstanding time and be able to refer their friends and family to us. We understand this is not the case with you, and we would love to have a second chance to make this up to you. Please know that this level of service and standards are not the norm here, nor is this type of review.
Our Innkeeper was on vacation when she received your message on her cell phone, and she called our Maintenance Supervisor to visit your cabin to resolve your situation. He went to your cabin, but all the lights were out, and because he did not want to disturb your stay at the late hour, he waited until the next morning. Going forward, we are making the Innkeeper’s cell number and the maintenance man's cell number available for problems, instead of the office, so that reaching a person will not be an issue.
I’m sure it was frustrating for the A/C to not get below 78. This has been serviced.
We are in transition with our cabin phones – thank you so much for calling this to our attention! Thanks to your e-mail, we have left notes on the phones until they are (hopefully very soon!) fixed by a technician specializing in internet phones.
We have also recently transitioned with our cleaning company. The issues that you noticed with your stay will not happen again in the future. We would like to express sincere regret for the non-cleaned grill, as well as the cabinets and stove. Again, these issues have been addressed and resolved.
Tuckaleechee Retreat Center is actually a non-profit ministry, funding Children’s Bible Ministries, a network of Christian camps in 11 locations nationwide. As we can budget upgrades, we desire to do so, in order that our guests may have the most comfortable and relaxing experience. Mattresses are at the top of this list, and we have begun to upgrade our main lodge, Elk, in this capacity. The box springs currently in the cabins are standard, nothing fancy, but we are sorry this was uncomfortable for your group.
We would love to offer you a complimentary one-night stay, sometime before the end of this year. Please call Ruth White, Innkeeper, at 865-621-0827 to book your stay, and please reference this letter.
