We had a great time at River's Reach ! It was a little off the beaten path but that's what we were looking for. Yeah it was a little drive to get supplies but with no traffic it sure beats fighting the crowds and traffic down in Nags Head or some other places. Internet was a little slow for watching any tv but we didnt watch much tv while we were there. Phones were ok on wifi. Pool and deck were great ! The view was great ! Loved the lit dock and the kayacks. Did the 2 mile dirt road walk/ run every morning. Saw fox, deer, turtles, rabbits and racoons. Nice and quiet and peaceful. Relaxing !

All in all it was a nice stay. If you are into crabbing this is the place for you, we unfortunately aren't. Fishing was 👎. Only complaint was the pool was very cloudy, couldn't see the bottom while out of it, my foot went through the step because of it being very rotten while packing up. The trees need to be trimmed, couldn't get out of my truck while pulled up close to the house because of how overgrown they were. Can't launch a boat unless you are a resident. This town is definitely not a happening area lol, nearest walmart/food lion is over 20 minutes away. If you have a nice car I don't advise driving it to the house because you literally have to drive through the woods to get to it. The internet was very slow. I recommend staying if you don't have kids. The house stay was great, many many things already in it that you don't need to bring so make sure to read! I give the area a 2 out of 10. The owner was very responsive and very nice.

The pool and dock access really make this rental - perfect for wearing out a busy kid! We left a couple times to go to a beach - Hughlett point is an easy drive. The kayak setup was excellent! The house kitchen is a bit sparse - the next door property has much more and better everything in that regard. With 5 people cooking almost all of our meals we were constantly washing dishes and had to get a bit creative with cooking utensils. For 4 adults, 1 kid, and a giant dog it was just enough space (it helps that we like eachother). We did not use the pullout sofa bed - both bedrooms have good nooks for a small child cot.

I highly recommend this spot for a getaway. The house is great and the access to the water is perfect. The hosts are responsive and everything was clean. There are a few things to be aware of. First, the pool is not shallow enough for young kids. For us this was fine. We are always with our kids in any pool and they are descent swimmers but there is no “shallow end”. Second, the house is set at 74 degrees, and can not be lowered. For me personally, I can’t sleep well when it is this warm. Other than this, great spot to vacation.

We had a great time enjoying the outdoor amenities including the dock, kayaks, and the amazing pool! The property was just as described and Allison was very responsive to any questions. The only note I would add is that many of the restaurants in the area are closed Monday through Wednesday so work that into your plan if you intend to taste the local fare. It’s the perfect location to unwind and reset. Thanks Allison!!

We had a great time enjoying the pool, water views, picking raspberries (that the hosts son offered), etc. The pool was beautiful and downstairs was very nice and comfortable. The stairs were a bit steep and worried me with a child and dog in tow. The kitchen had most necessities but could have been a bit better in terms of items available, e.g., dull knives. The towels, chair cushions, etc were plentiful and the home was quite clean. I would recommend but caution that the stairs are a bit steep.

We had an amazing time at this property, the pool is just amazing as it looks in the photos, as is the view of the river! The house is perfect for those who enjoy river activities, fully stocked with kayaks, a dock (it is shared, we had cool renting neighbors though), and lots of other fun outdoor toys (e.g., fire pits, pool toys, great deck, crab pots, etc.) Clean house, responsive owner, and privacy. Absolutely loved this place and would return! One issue, a minor one, is that the internet/wifi is not stable/strong. So streaming/cable/email is not as smooth or consistent there. Worse during a storm, but struggles during a nice day as well. It is nice to disconnect so not a problem for us, but could be if you need to remote work without interruption. Bring your mobile hotspot and you will be fine! Many thanks for an awesome time!

As soon as we walked in we were thrilled. The house, pool, dock and location could not have been more perfect. We home to return next summer.

This is one of our favorite places for our family! The minute you walk in to the minute you put your toes in the water! This is such a relaxing place for our family and we love every minute of it!!! We can’t wait to be back!
