Comfortable and pretty cottage
The cottage was well situated for both the High Street and beach, but the area was quiet at night. We were delighted by the Devon cream tea that awaited us (thank you so much, Katie) and soon felt at home in the cottage. The settee and the bed were comfortable, the kitchen well-equipped. We also enjoyed sitting in the sunny, South-facing garden in the evening. Luckily, we encountered no problem finding a space to park nearby.

Perfect cosy cottage for a winter break
Gorgeous cosy cottage. We stayed in the run-up to Christmas. Very clean. Wood burner made it feel so Christmassy and the cottage has other lovely features like the window seats in the bedrooms. A few steps from the fish and chip shop and the high street just beyond. Katie was so welcoming and we loved our cream tea on arrival.

just perfect
Lyndale Cottage was perfect for our three night break family reunion in Devon, very relaxing, great beds (double very comfortable for a fibromyalgia sufferer, single bunks also very comfortable), and perfectly placed next to a very nice (and quiet) pub and award winning fish and chips shop, minutes from the sea and the main street, and the perfect springboard to visit the surrounding Devon seaside villages and more. The hosts Katie & Jon were very welcoming, not intrusive at all although right next door and very happy to help with any queries; we felt very comfortable! Lyndale Cottage is perfectly placed for lovely walks up and around the little side streets, the main street and the beach, with very friendly and relaxed locals, it's gorgeous, and everything you could want in a sea side village, you can even hear the waves crashing when standing in the courtyard at night. We're definitely returning to Lyndale Cottage, highly recommend it!

Fan-dabi-dozi!
You'll not be disappointed should you be thinking about booking Lyndale Cottage. We concur all the positive reviews regarding the accommodation & its location. Lyndale Cottage is beautiful (inside & outside) contemporary & very comfortable. It is fully equipped with everything that will make your holiday more pleasant & enjoyable. Furthermore, the owner, Katie is a very helpful & convivial individual. We've had the most wonderful 9 days & nights here. We were blessed with fantastic weather that enabled us to take full advantage of eating al fresco in the garden or on the beach. The town of Budleigh Salterton is charming with its array of shops/restaurants & the beautiful pebbled beach with shimmering shoreline. Further afield, Devon will not fail to impress. We'd love to return again as I'm sure you will too!

Perfect cottage in a perfect location
Katie popped round to introduce herself. Always nice to put a face to a name. Fresh flowers on the table and scones and cream - nice touches. Cottage well appointed. Excellent location as beach, shops, eateries all close at hand. Thank you Katie J. I am sure we will pay a return visit.

Comfy, cosy, and well equipped, in great location
We had a great time at Lyndale Cottage and would definitely go back. The welcome was warm and a lot of thought had clearly gone into making the cottage feel homely. It's a light and airy space, tastefully decorated, clean, and well equipped; it has the feel of somewhere that the owners care about (e.g. quality beds!) and look after well. The outdoor space is very nicely done and well cared for. The cottage is nicely tucked away in a quiet location, but very close to the high street (1 minute walk) and the beach (2 minutes). There's a decent chippy, Indian restaurant, Co-op, bakery, deli, and wine shop within a couple of minutes walk, and a snack "shack" on the beech with picnic tables. Further afield there's plenty to do in the surrounding area. Thanks to Katie for helping to make it a lovely stay.

Well equipped cottage in perfect British seaside location
Great location close to beach, shops, cafes - all walking distance. Perfect host who was on hand if/when we needed. Handy for coastal walks - with/without buggy, lovely cycling routes nearby too. Our 2 year old loved our stay - safe garden, beach, and park just down the road - perfect. Visit Beer for some fresh fish. Visit Topsham for cool shops & cafes esp pig&pallet. Visit Lily's vineyard in budleigh. We will be back!

About the neighbourhood
Beaches With 300 miles of coastline and 60 beaches in Devon, there is plenty of choice. Budleigh beach is great for swimming and safe for children who will enjoy the pebbles more than you think. Exmouth is a traditional seaside resort for 'bucket and spade' family fun and plenty of watersports on offer (popular for windsurfing and kitesurfing). Sidmouth beach has sand and pebbles with rock pools at the eastern end to explore. Branscombe is a bit further east but definitely worth a visit. The walking, pubs and beach are great. Further west along the coast in the Torbay area there are plenty more popular beaches on offer, including Blackpool Sands and Salcombe. North Devon beaches are long stretches of sand and surf with the easiest to get to being Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton Sands. Watersports Wake boarding, water skiing, kite boarding and windsurfing are available in Exmouth. You can also launch your own boat from there or hire one. Walking From the cottage front door, you are on the South West Coast Path in a couple of minutes with its fantastic views, flowers and birdlife. Both east towards Sidmouth and west to Exmouth have fantastic views, flowers and birdlife. Dartmoor is about 30 mins away and with 500km of coast and 3,500 miles of footpaths, there is plenty to choose from. Local sports and leisure Budleigh Salterton Riding School provides lessons, hacks and treks. This area is also great for off and on road cycling. The Exmouth and Budleigh Salterton Cycle Route is an old railway line and is minutes away. East Devon Golf Club is situated on the cliff top above Budleigh Salterton and is regarded by many as one of the finest courses in the South West. The Budleigh games club is up the hill behind the cottage and has tennis, bowls and croquet. You can fish for mackerel and bass from Budleigh beach or take a deep sea fishing trip from Exmouth. Family activities Families with young children are well catered for in Budleigh with the beach and play park nearby. Bicton Park Botanical Gardens is lovely and just a few minutes away. Boat trips run from Topsham, Exmouth and Sidmouth. Crealy Adventure Theme Park is fun for kids whilst Powderham Castle is in a beautiful setting beside the Exe estuary. There are zoos in Paignton, Sparkwell (Dartmoor Zoological Park) and Exmoor (Exmoor Zoo). Go Ape! is at Haldon Forest if you are into climbing trees, and sliding across high wires and rather tamer are the Plymouth National Aquarium, Pennywell Farm and the Donkey Sanctuary at Sidmouth (which is free!). There is a Diggerland at Cullompton and fossil hunting at Charmouth or Lyme Regis beaches. The Cathedral City of Exeter has shops, leisure centres, cinemas and lots of restaurant options. Markets and local food Fresh seafood, traditional cream teas and local award-winning wines are all here in Budleigh. Local markets run in Budleigh, Topsham and Exeter and Darts Farm is a real haven for 'foodies'. Fresh fish can be bought direct from the fishermen on the beach and Otterton Mill has great home-made food, live music evenings, artist studios, and bakery. Historic Devon Budleigh Salterton is on the World Heritage Coast with its beautiful, pebble beach and old fashioned town. The pretty thatched village of Otterton is a walk up the Otter Estuary as is East Budleigh, the birth place of Sir Walter Raleigh. Sidmouth is an attractive Regency seaside resort and the National Trust village of Branscombe is full of attractive thatched buildings. From Branscombe is a lovely coastal walk to the fishing village and sheltered beach at Beer. Honiton in the Blackdown Hills is famous for lace-making, pottery and is a big antiques centre whilst Topsham is a lovely historic estuary port is full of interesting Dutch, Edwardian and Georgian architecture. Exeter itself, is the regional capital with sights such as the cathedral and historic quayside along the River Exe and Exeter Canal.
