Could be great, but not the 5 star as advertised
We booked this cottage through Cornish Horizons, who rate as 5 star holiday home. The location and view certainly lives up to that but not the condition of the house. It was interesting to read (after our visit) a previous review on here almost 12 months ago who had similar issues which have still not been rectified. The decking on both terraces is a disgrace and tripping hazards. The oven has no numbers left on the dials so it is hit and miss what temp and function you are cooking on. The downstairs bedroom window is still cracked. The rain shower head all split and the door leaks, hinges also rusted. The bedroom and utility door handles hanging off. The property is advertised as dog friendly with enclosed garden, if they think a very low wall at the bottom of the garden that goes straight onto a hundred foot drop to the rocks and sea is dog secure, they are very much mistaken. There was also no bolt on the garden gate because it has rusted away to nothing, so we had to prop that shut with a pot plant. Both bar stools in the kitchen were missing fixings and we totally unsafe. I could go on about bulbs not working, the dishwasher broken and the overall condition of the decor! The owners should be ashamed of themselves with what they are charging and not investing back into the property. The house and location could be second to none.

Wonderful view/aspect over the English Channel
There is no denying the wonderful view/aspect over the English Channel that this property commands, nor the cleanliness, the impressive style of the house, it’s excellent location in relation to Porthleven harbour, and the beauty of the whole area, but there are a number of things that the property requires doing to justify the price point. The decking on the sun terrace was in an unacceptable condition, when we arrived, with trip hazards and a rotten/sunken area around the barbecue. When we advised the agent of the issue they did send someone to address the trip hazards, but, the whole deck really need replacing. The whole house is in need of redecoration. It is tired with scuffs to the woodwork and walls in all the rooms. Other issues were: 1) Not a full set of cushions for the patio set; 2) A patio chair broken, wobbly and unsafe; 3) An armrest on 1 of the sun loungers broken; 4) The dishwasher door was broken making it difficult to load/unload safely. We were told that this was going to be replaced in the winter; 5) Double glazed unit broken in the ground floor bedroom; 6) Bedroom door handle was badly sprained due to the excessive pressure needed to latch the door shut; 7) The glass door to the oven had black sticky tape holding something? We thought this was a fire hazard.
