In the kitchen there are all the conveniences you will need, plus a sofa-bed and large family table for the few times of the year when you will dine inside or to quickly have breakfast before you head off to the beach. The sitting area of the kitchen also offers a modern TV and DVD player for your relaxation in the late evening, watching a video or listening to music. Outside the kitchen the veranda offers both covered and open space for relaxing, reading or sunbathing. The whole of the roof area is accessible also as a sun terrace and as somewhere to enjoy the sunset and have an early evening drink. There are good panoramic views of the valley and surrounding area as far as the town of Ostuni from this viewpoint location. There are 5000 sq meters of land surrounding the house where you can feel free to stroll or eat the fruit growing there when in season. There are almonds, pears, pomegranate and of course olives. The trullo sits equidistant from some of the most interesting towns and villages in Puglia.
All the towns of Ostuni, Cisternino, and Ceglie Massappica offer stunning southern Italian streets, churches and castles to visit, as well as the usual range of fine restaurants, pizzerias and bars. Within 30 minutes drive you can also take in Martina Franca with its magnificent atmosphere, fine basilica, opera festival in July and fine views of the Salento peninsula. Within an hour from the trullo you can also visit Bari with its great Cathedral, named after St Nicolas, as well as the football stadium, of the same name, which is home of one of the Italian Serie A's greatest teams. Brindisi is also worth a visit at only 30 minutes away and formerly the end on the Via Appia which left from Rome taking the legions on their way to conquer the Levant. Just beyond that is Lecce, about 45 minutes away, which is a must for lovers of Baroque architecture and grandeur. A car tour of the southern-most part of the peninsular will take over an hour but is worth the journey especially a visit to Gallipoli and the few villages on the way to Santa Marie del Lueca, where a dialect of ancient Greek is still spoken. The Greek past must be explored with a trip to the museum of Grecia Magna in Taranto, taking in,on the way from the trullo, a visit to the ceramic capital of the south is in Lagrottaglie. Just to the north and a little into the region of Basilicata you should take the opportunity to visit the city of Matera, looking like a film set of biblical Jerusalem - it has been the location for many films including Mel Gibson's Passion of the Christ.More
Smoking can happen outside of the house and around the pool and on the veranda. However the greatest care should be shown when disposing of the spent cigarette. Do not throw into the garden ever! Fires can begin and cause devastation and great danger to yourselves and the rest of the rural community. The same care needs to be shown when barbecuing also an disposing of spent charcoal. The forestry police will trace any fires started by accident and prosecute those found responsible.

We had not appreciated quite how lucky we were to stay in a genuine, beautiful Trullo until we realised that simply entering and looking inside one is regarded as a tourist attraction in some areas to see what these traditional local houses had been like...More
An adventure to locate but definitely worthwhile. A slice of paradise, peaceful, with the pool the star of the show. Well equipped kitchen, comfortable bedrooms, we spent most time outside lounging by the pool, with shade available all day.
The copious instructions reminded us of...More

The towns and cities are a delight and a great source of local pride. Ostuni and Cisternino are exceptional for their medieval architecture and great views to the sea and across the Valle d’Itria. There is also the baroque spendour of Martina Franca with it’s cathedral of St Martin and it’s Opera Festival running from 21 July to 11 August each year.
There are many beach resorts within a short drive, which are well equipped for small children seen from the S.S 379 called often Tourist Villages. The town of Fasano is not particularly interesting except that it has a great safari park and mini Alton Towers, a bit dated but great for the little ones.
Ostuni will provide you with the perfect opportunity to relax in it’s many cafes restaurants in the old city, some of which are built into the...
Being in the country you will require yourown transport to enjoy the region at its best. The trullo is an ideal centre for bicycle bases tour but again you will need to bring your own or arrange rental in Ostuni. This can be arranged in advance should you wish. Busses and trains are good from Ostuni to Bari, Brindisi and Lecce if you choose not to travel by car to these cities for a day out. Flights serving the region fly from both Bari and Brindisi from many European destination in the summer months.
