Casa Martina is a romantic holiday cottage located in beautiful and undiscovered corner of Tuscany, the Casentino Valley, between Arezzo and Florence. The cottage is situated in the shadow of the castle of Porciano, on the remains of the castle walls, in the upper part of the village. Lovingly restored and decorated by the castle owner, this fully equipped cottage is the perfect place from which to explore the natural and artistic treasures of Tuscany and the Casentino Valley. It is set with a table, chairs, and umbrella. As the apartment is on the ground level, the windows have wrought-iron grating for safety. The entrance is in common with Casa Teresa, which is one floor up. Casa Martina and Casa Teresa may be rented together as an excellent solution for two couples who wish to have their privacy. About the neighbourhood
The Borgo del Castello di Porciano offers the peace and hospitality of the upper valley of the Arno River, Casentino. In this small village, at the foot of its Castle, you will be able to experience and explore the natural and artistic beauty of this lesser known corner of Tuscany. The village stands at 600 meters above sea level, and is only one mile away (1.5 km) from the lovely small town of Stia, built where the Arno and Staggia rivers meet. The Romanesque Church in the square surrounded by archways is one of the most beautiful pievi (parish churches) of the Casentino. In the summer you will be able to enjoy the park along the river where you can sun yourself, wade or swim in the clear waters of the Arno river. The sources of the Arno are very near Stia so the water is still clean and pure.
Getting around
Car is mandatory to enjoy the area! Public means of transportations are also available and work pretty well, but they don't reach some of the most interesting sights (as hilltop old city centers, etc.).
