Pros: the location of the cottage is great, rural enough to achieve the peace & quite of beautiful Donegal but central enough to explore the north, west and southern points of Co.Donegal. Enough parking for 3 cars and a rear enclosed garden for pets. Owner responsive to any queries/issues however not always resolved. Nice fire. Good ceramic kitchen wear I.e plates, mugs etc. Cons: very unclean, even after a second clean by the cleaner. Thankful owner offered second clean, however didn't resolve issue (admittedly we were too shy to say it still wasn't clean when owner checked with us) therefore we had to clean it ourselves. Cobwebs and dead spiders on ceilings and doorways. Window sills thick with dirt. See photo. Right hand side cleaned with cloth, left not, see colour difference. Floors dirty. Can appreciate it is an old cottage with rough walls & stone floor therefore difficult to clean however needs deep clean asap. Hoover very weak suction- wouldn't help cleaning efforts. Cutlery needs refreshed- a lot stained & tarnished- not nice to use. Poor fittings, skirting boards broken & bulging in places. Grass very over grown and neglected, would have expected grass to have been cut when paying extra for 2 dogs to stay. Fence & gates rotten and protective wiring to enclose garden torn, small dogs could escape, therefore not fully safe/enclosed. If you need to check emails or work during your stay the WiFi is poor & intermittent. Owner advised WiFi down due to service provider servicing in the area, although it was poor for the full week stay and seemed to reset at 3am every night. Overall: 2/5 Would be 4/5 if it had a tidy up/refurb, and better looked stay and WiFi more reliable as it is advertised as an amenity/service on the booking site.

This review is on behalf of my parents who stayed here. They were blown away by the detail of the cottage, by the location and the cleanliness. Both Stephen and Dervilla were so great and efficient and easy to deal with. My parents would highly recommend this cottage for a visit.

We loved our stay here. An excellent cottage. A marriage of old meets new. It is situated in a small village with a beautiful lake with a well stocked petrol station for essentials and friendly locals. We especially enjoyed Carrickfinn beach, white/Gold sand and clear waters, unspoiled beauty. Glenveagh National park was spectacular. We were blessed with sunshine all week.

Our cosy old fashioned cottage was so lovely, rooms very comfortable. We all loved it, something very charming about it. So well located . Easy access,so much to do all day everyday and we had some lovely weather. Could not recommend it enough. Small things count eg dishwasher tabs etc.

We passed a lovely few days in Teac Chondai. The cottage is the perfect mix of old style cottage downstairs with the lovely fireplace and more modern comforts upstairs. It was perfect our trip. We were very comfortable, the kitchen was well stocked with the basics and the heating system was easy to use. It was a treat to have the fire ready and waiting for us. Carrickfinn Beach is amazing and we really enjoyed Glenveagh national park, especially the deer roaming around. The area is beautiful and we were very sad to leave, looking forward to our next trip to Donegal.

Teac Chondai Thatched Cottage in Loughanure is an attractive, well-appointed and spacious cottage, conveniently located for exploring Donegal -- within easy reach of Slieve League and Glen Colmkille, Arranmore, Glenveagh Castle and the Derryveagh Mountains and, though a little further afield, Fanad Head. Loughanure shop and pub (excellent meals) are close by, making it very practical for a self-catering holiday. Our only reservation was the extra cost (and hassle) of metered oil for hot water.

The cottage is located in Loughanure, a small village close to Glenveagh National Park, and the wonderful Carrickfinn beach. The cottage itself has everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. I couldn't believe how well equipped the kitchen was! We were given the warmest welcome by Brid, who explained everything and was very helpful with tips and advice for our short stay. Thoroughly enjoyable!

My parents booked Teac Chondai for a weeks break and I decided to tag along for a few days. The cottage is extremely pretty looking from the outside, a thatched roof, stable doors on the front and a massive garden. The interior of the cottage was a nice mix of traditional and modern. The downstairs of the cottage was very much in keeping with the original style with an open fire in the living room and an art bed dining room. The two downstairs bedrooms were clean and tidy and very spacious. The kitchen had all required appliances including a dishwasher. There was also a downstairs shower room catering for the bedrooms on the ground floor. Upstairs was a new addition in the past 20 years and was more modern but very relaxing. The main living area had a tv and sofas and a coffee table beside the window looking out over Loch an Iuir and the beautiful mountain range. At night it was lovely sitting watching the sun set and the lights coming on in the distance. Again there were a further two bedrooms and a shower room upstairs. There is a meter for the oil heating which takes coins but when we arrived there was a few hours already on the meter should we have needed it. There was definitely no more than €10 spent over the week for heating and hot water. There is also WiFi which was more than adequate for 3 of us connecting our phones/tablets. One of the main selling points of the cottage was the ability to bring my parents dog. There were two enclosed gardens which were perfect to allow her to run about with not only fencing but also a soft mesh to ensure she couldn’t escape. I honestly think Lola enjoyed the stay more than we did and that’s saying something! Within a few minutes walk from the cottage is the local garage which had a chippy inside and the local pub and restaurant which I would thoroughly recommend. The food was outstanding and boasted local fresh seafood on the menu. Carrickfinn beach is within a 10 minute drive towards Donegal airport and is a beautiful blue flag beach. The village is also close to Dungloe which has a SuperValu and Aldi should you want to cook. There are also quite a few restaurants, tea rooms and cafes. I can definitely say that I would go back to the cottage in a heartbeat and I’m only sorry I couldn’t stay the full week. My parents thoroughly enjoyed their time and haves vowed to rebook for next year.
