Wow!!! What an outstanding vacation. We were able to get away from society and just enjoy the sea, sun and the ocean breeze. And, on the days we wanted to be around people we were a short drive to the tourist areas. It was wonderful to meet the friendly locals and enjoy the delicious local island food. Having a quaint little church 100 yards up the road was a blessing as well. The villa is in a great location to getaway and just enjoy the people or person you are with. Listening to the waves wash against the villa all day and night was our idea of heaven. We were able to snorkel right off of the shore of the Kings's Retreat and saw many beautiful fish and sea urchins. Each afternoon sea turtles would come in close to the shore and it was awesome to watch them. We swam out to snorkel with them but unfortunately we were unable to see them underwater. There was also many other types of creatures to enjoy while sitting on the deck. Pelicans diving into the ocean to feed throughout the day and numerous tiny lizards and cute little birds to watch. The villa was so relaxing and refreshing with many large windows that opened to the sea without screens or glass. The constant sea breeze flowing thru the house felt and smelled very refreshing. The attached swimming pool comes right into the living room so it was nice to sit in the pool and be able to visit with family who were relaxing on the couch or in the kitchen. The beds were comfortable and the showers were fantastic. There is a beautiful views of the Atlantic Ocean on one side and a beautiful view of a mountain on the other side of the villa. The villa is on the opposite side of the island but there are many things to do within a short ride on the numerous taxi vans which drive around the island. We rented a car and it was very simple to travel around the island and see all of the beaches and sights we wanted to see. During our stay we enjoyed numerous beaches and restaurants, paddle boarding, snorkeling, zip lining and a beautiful botanical garden. What a joy. This was my second time at the Kings Retreat and I look forward to returning. Wonderful villa, wonderful island and beautiful people. Especially Bernice!

You walk into this charming villa and the most pleasant housekeeper (Bernice) swung open the doors to the deck overlooking the ocean. She then swung open the doors leading out to the pool from the Great Room. She then proceeded to open the window in the kitchen to the ocean - I never enjoyed doing dishes so much in my life - what a view. Both Bedrooms also have doors that open to an amazing ocean view. With all there was to do in St. Kitts (and we did) - i really enjoyed hanging out at the villa with a glass of wine and games on the deck. Everyone was so friendly. We often saw a full rainbow after the rain showers from the deck. Check out Shiggidy Shack for the fire eater show on Thursday. Go to Shipwreck beach for excellent drinks, snorkeling and be entertained by the monkeys. Check out Lions beach for an excellent St. Kitts meal. Want a real St. Kitts experience - check out Coopers Restaurant - excellent food. We also took a ferry to Nevis and explored the island for a day. So much to do there and so relaxing. I have not had a vacation like that in years. Temperature was the same every day and evening - just beautiful. Follow the owner helpful tips for a wonderful visit. Also the neighbors were very helpful and very friendly. Since I work - even on vacation - WiFi is important. I never had any trouble with WiFi. Location was out from the main scene but that made it nice for us. Car rental was easy and there was plenty of bus/van transportation available.
