The apartment was very comfortable. Everything was new and ultra modern (for ex., induction stove top), and although the fridge broke down when we got there, it was replaced in less than 24 hours with a brand-new one.
It really is a 5-min walk to the surfers beach, but it's downhill all the way, which means... it's uphill when you come back. But no biggie, if you can surf, you're fit enough to make the extra effort.
The owners live in the house above the apartment, which is handy when you need something. They are very helpful and in the two weeks that we were there, checked on us a few times just to make sure everything was ok.
The few cons:
- The internet is slow and sporadic and we had to ask the owner to reset the livebox a couple of times, which may be an issue if he's not around. If you are planning to do work while there and need a reliable connection, this may not be the ideal place.
- The fence around the apartment is solid, opaque and high, which means that the yard is in the shade at all times. This is a good thing and a bad thing: good against indiscrete passers-by and it keeps the yard and apartment cool. Bad because the view is blocked except from a tiny corner of the yard and the yard remains dark all day long. Not a place you really want to stay in and relax during the day.
- Lots, lots of ants. We found columns of these tiny little ants in the kitchen overnight, wiped them out, only to find another highway the next day. Having said that, this pest is obviously not specific to this apartment, but it is a nuisance that you're likely to have to deal with in any apartment/house that is at ground level.
In conclusion, I would say that it is a very clean, well-maintained apartment, suitable for up to 4 people and perfectly fine if you plan to spend most of your time out. It's excellent for cooking, eating, sleeping, doing laundry (the washing machine in the bathroom is a plus), etc. What else do you need when you're on vacation, right?
