Condo/Apartment -
1 Bedroom , 1 Bathroom , Sleeps 4
Tryphena, Great Barrier Island, North Island
Looking for a very special location for your honeymoon, or just for a weekend away with your loved one or just you? This truly stunning apartment provides the kind of sweeping panoramic views over the Hauraki Gulf only billionaires dream of in the rest of the world... and the seclusion and peace and quiet you have been craving for so long. It is a self contained apartment, attached to a comfortable eco house which is mainly run on solar power, wind power and wood. For summer it even has a swimming pool overlooking the water.

House and apartment were finished in 2010 and have extra wide views from the Coromandel to the Whangarei Heads, and are situated in a very remote location only shared with your hosts. You will need a 4WD vehicle for access. Bring your own or ask about vehicle hire.

When you walk into your lounge, an expansive view m...

XSpot is simply a spectacular place. The views from the living room and terrace are absolutely priceless. Having traveled through NZ for 3 weeks, we got used to being stunned by Mother Nature and XSpot and GBI was the perfect place to wind down after...More

Thanks for your words. Happy you enjoyed the XSPOT and GBI. We agree it's a pretty amazing place for those who are open to a bit of adventure. Great Barrier Island is not for everyone ;-D

If Trip Advisor allowed for more than just 5 stars, the XSPOT would get 10! The XSPOT offered breathtaking views, a spacious and modern living space, and was very clean. While Great Barrier Island may not be for everyone, as it is very remote with...More

Just returned after four blissful days at X-Spot. On arrival we were met by the friendly owner Hilde and her cat Puké who gave us a quick overview of the island and favourite spots. The bach itself is amazing, the views are priceless. We saw...More

About the neighbourhood
The X-spot is located on top of a cliff on the western side of Great Barrier Island, New Zealand and has amazing views over the Hauraki Gulf, from the Broken Islands in the North, via Little Barrier in the West, to the lights of Auckland in the South. This location is the kind of location that only billionaires can afford in Europe or even the States. We were lucky enough to buy early, to dream for a long time, and to finally be able to build our house with holiday apartment in this location. It is set in a very secluded location on 25 acres of regenerating native bush. Often the only sounds that can be heard are the wind and the water lapping on the rocks below. A 20 minute walk down a goat track takes you to a private pebble beach and great rock fishing.
Access is by 4WD car. The road t...
Getting around
Some people wonder what we do all day… Or what you are going to do all day when you are here… Don’t worry, you are welcome to sit and watch the view or read your book and totally relax, or just do absolutely nothing all day.
For active people there is stacks to do, and for art and craft lovers, too. Often, you have to make your own fun on Great Barrier Island, but there are people who are happy to assist, too. Check with us if in doubt.

Ask Hilde to email you her personal Barrier activities guide.
