Islands seem to be in my blood, beginning with going to school in Bermuda. After that, I lived in St. Lucia and I've pretty much been island hopping ever since. I gravitate towards properties that leave, as one poster put it, "a lighter footprint" on the ecology of an island. Low rise, never an elevator, close to the shoreline so I can hear the waves breaking throughout the length of my stay. I never want to see a television on holiday, so I'm happy with low tech environments. A pool is a must, just in case the sea is too rough and a bar and restaurant on site are definitely a plus. I almost can't imagine a vacation in a land locked destination. Nothing rejuvenates me like the freedom of swimming in an open body of water. Snorkeling and scuba diving have enhanced my enjoyment of the waters of the Caribbean. I'm always rejuvenated by time spent in the region and look forward to yrs of exploration through islands I've been to and the ones I've yet to discover.
